Liberals high water mark. They loved it. They still watch “All The President’s Men” twice a month. I think it was nominated for 47 Oscars.

Yes sir, I was 12 at the time. On a side note, President Ford stopped in GSP one Saturday morning before a home game during his tenure. We stopped by on the way to the game and got to shake his hand.

Wasn’t around, but the 70s in general seemed like such a depressing decade.

Depended on your age. I was k-10th in the 70s.

Great for being a kid in a small town. A lot of mystery about the world. Cool toys. Little expectation to be anything more than a kid.

But I know, if I'd been an adult, I'd have been much more concerned.

got on the helicopter and left the building. SNL got some serious mileage out of Nixon.

As in:

"I accept full responsibility for the Watergate bugging. But, not the blame. Let me explain the difference. People who are responsible, keep their jobs. People who are to blame.....DO NOT!"

Also, I was never a huge Rich Little fan, but I did think he did a KILLER Richard Nixon. He exaggerated all the mannerisms, to hilarious levels.

It’s a pity politics has gotten so bad, the unbiased press will absolutely destroy the lives of any decent person that tries to run for office, so all that’s left are worthless choices. Pick your poison.

You mean . . . there are some decent people running for public office 🤔! Gosh, the definition of the word, decent, must have changed over the years! And, I’d say that applies to both sides of the political spectrum!

Heard a story the other day about Nixon and Jackie Gleason. They were good friends , and Nixon while in office learned of Gleasons fascination with UFO’s and what’s out there . Nixon told Gleason to fly down to Florida and an address to meet a couple guys who would pick him up. They took him to a building somewhere in the middle of Florida and as the story goes. Gleason left that building having seen something and that had been retrieved at some point that changed the way he viewed us and how little the actual public knows about what the U.S. Government knows about life outside our planet. He thought so much of Nixon that he held his promise till after Nixon was dead and almost to the end of Gleasons own life before ever telling that story. I believe it may be in his book but not sure about that.

It was a pretty cool story and as with most stories passed down over time , I imagine as each person tells it , it gets more interesting

Funny that Gerald Ford was never elected to VP or President. He went from Senate minority leader to VP then to president in less than a year. He was a good football player at Michigan in his earlier years.

Nixon may be one of the most misunderstood Presidents. He was the anti establishment candidate and ran on getting us out of Vietnam but Henry Kissinger who influenced Nixon more than any other adviser wanted to force Vietnam and China to heel so he could bring them into the family of nations, (if they saw the futility of Communism). That's why Nixon visited China.

Well, actually tRump thought he was a dem once upon a time and even donated to dem causes and Bill and Hillary. Then he figured out he could fool a lot of the people a lot of the time....and declared a gop.

I remember being very interested in the Watergate hearings and watching quite a bit of it. Most everyone else including adults were biatchin because it was the only thing on TV.

That's how you lose a country.

I remember being angry during the hearings because they took off all my shows to show on the three available stations. Now that I understand the childishness of government, even though it’s a 400’ child, my shows were more important.

How quaint. He only had goons break into an office to get secrets. That’s baby bleep compared to the crimes every president since has committed against the people. But we’ll get ‘em next time!

Vote harder! After 234 years of expanding government and contracting freedom, that constitution will work this time!

… the difference today is there are no Woodward’s or Bernstein’s on the hunt.

Watergate was simply a stupid cover-up of a senseless bungled burglary attempt.

What’s happening today is order of magnitude more serious.

And the press/media does not care.
