This is the best option yet if you can jump on it.

Would much rather spend the extra flight money on hotel and a weekend in the city

I've been wrong two times, but this isn't one of them.

What were you expecting? GSP-SFO direct takes almost 6 hrs

Jan 4, 2019, 8:42 AM

The itineraries I posted are very efficient in travel time for the price and for having a stop or 2 along the way.. 9 hours to get from Greenville to San Francisco.

How do you go about finding these flights? I am working my tail off to try to get out there, but not having luck like this.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I mostly use the Skiplagged site and just plug in a lot of

Jan 4, 2019, 9:36 AM

different dates and airports. Find one-way flights and combine them. Easier that way, might find a great deal flying into SFO and out of SJC or something similar.

Where are you coming from?

are costing a BLOODY FORTUNE! I hated spending all that money, but I am over it now. Go Tigers!

They might ask for a passport in GSP - since the flight ends

Jan 4, 2019, 9:39 AM

in Canada...

Be aware of the risks of this

Jan 4, 2019, 9:43 AM

Since the extra leg is to Canada - you will be asked for your Passport upon check-in (even if you don't intend to go all of the way to Vancouver). If you don't have it, you will likely not be able to check in.

Also - airlines are free to rebook your route in the event of cancellation. Meaning that you will have a trip to Vancouver, but it might not go through San Francisco.

Airlines have also sued individuals for using this method repeatedly... particularly United. They have also been known to void frequent flier accounts (not just for that trip, but the entire account for that individual).

It's a great price, but it comes with risks.

Skip Hotels and Stay AirBnB or VRBO

Jan 4, 2019, 11:38 AM

Searches on AirBnB and VRBO are still churning out a number of places to stay for less than $100/night. Find one near a train station and you can also skip the car rental and rely mostly on RideShare options like Lyft or Uber for the short distances. I’m doing my entire 3-day trip (inclusive of tickets, flight and stay) for less than $1k. That leaves lots of budget leftover for beer, merch and food!! Go Tigers!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Looks like this deal is dead***
