2012 Dabo had a hard decision to make

Post WVU Orange bowl game.
Goes outside the program and gets BV, the best D Coordinator of all time at Clemson.
Post Orange bowl 2022, he has another hard decision to make , this time on the offensive side of the ball.
Going to be a tide turning off season.
Let’s see what he does

the Dabo of 2010/2011 when he went OUTSIDE to get Chad Morris and the Dabo of 2011/2012 when he went OUTSIDE to get BV is long gone. That was a hungry, cutting edge, never satisfied Dabo..........That Dabo no longer exists.

TDP still also had far more juice than Dabo did and could tell him that “they go or you go. “. Dabo would tell Neff where to stick it (and basically has with his “you can fire me” comments) if Neff tried that now. No one in the AD has enough leverage on Dabo to force any moves he doesn’t want to make.

Nailed it, that is tge ket difference between now and the past.
I am afraid we are heading to a dynasty fall like Stoops and Bowden had. They did very similar things to what we are doing now.
Hope we change it up.

Dabo has more leverage than Neff and Clements put together and everybody knows it.
It would have to take some major losses, like another WV embarrassment, for him to make any changes to his staff. Look at how committed he was to DJ. He’s even more so to his peoples he’s hired.

but i'm leaning towards agreeing with what you say. And IF that is the truth and he'd leave if Neff approached him Neff needs to approach sooner than later.
Different sport but after exiting Beckham from Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson said "if a player became bigger than the manager (Ferguson) and the club than he had to go".
Neff needs to have the same mindset with coaches if he wants Best to Be the Standard. Likewise Dabo needs to have that mentality with players. No player, assistant, or coach is bigger than the program. That mindset builds winning programs.
HOPEFULLY Dabo hasn't reached that status yet but his recent comments since 2020 aren't promising.

That Dabo was still fighting and coaching to keep a job long term. Currently he is resting on his past success. It’s still not totally shipwrecked yet but the waves are getting bigger.

Also did it with Napier in 2010. This offense reminds me of those that had no identity and weren’t really good at anything.

There were at least 2 possessions in the first half where we were inside the 30 and we called 3 straight pass plays and settled for field goal attempts. Why are we putting that on a freshman QB? Grey McElroy was basically saying just run the #### ball. So stupid

Because Tennessee has a good run defense and a bad pass defense. There is at least a logical basis behind the decision. It's not just bath rap crazy like you think it is.

Sort of. 45 rushes for 164 yards at 3.6 yards per carry. I mean, it's ok, not great.

And how many times do you have to watch the TN defense smash our freshman QB before you realize we can’t block them and you need to leave a RB in for pass pro? That is high school stuff

About as many times as you go with an empty backfield and not give any short quick route options for the QB to throw to.
