Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Apr 19, 2021, 7:59 AM

Friday night, Sharkgirl, Tote1's soon to be bride, and Mrs. Shorty went out raising hell in Greenville. I stayed on and watched Joe Bob Briggs.

Saturday went kaying. Was supposed to go to the Saluda River but delays and being unsure of kayak transport landed us at Table Rock. Made a few laps then off to Shoeless for some beers.

Sunday, Sharkgirl was feeling pretty crummy after getting her second covid shot so it was a real lazy day.

Sattidy - Yardwork - planting, mulching, round-upping, etc

Not intending to have kids and getting marrired...

Pretty good. Had some good friends and former neighbors come into town.

Friday night: Drank a lot of beer with them around the fire pit. We all went out to eat earlier. Went cruising on the carts later and looked for trouble.

Saturday: Had a lazy day that turned into a throwdown bash with a bunch of neighbors and those friends at night. Everyone was vaccinated. Felt like old times. Even the missus got a little toasty and that's rare.

Sunday: Yard work and Home Depot. Hit up Mex One for dinner.

FINALLY.

Apr 19, 2021, 8:17 AM

Friday, went to hang out with RH Mom after work, back home where Mrs. had braised some mock tender steaks in a slurry of fire roasted tomatoes, garlic, and onions. Ate over rice and it was freaking delish. Flopped into the Big Chair, drank a few beers, and watched things on TV that I can't remember what.

Saturday, Mrs. was on the road early picking up bees and setting up new hives, so no Saturday Morning Vinyl Select-O-Pick. Instead, watched the Billy Gibbons episode of Sammy Hagar's Rock and Roll Road Trip show and then the 2018 Dan Rather interview with Lynyrd Skynyrd on the AXS TV app I just downloaded. I love free streaming content. A few light chores, over to RH Mom's for a bit, then off to get a new spring/summer sport coat for all the wedding things I have happening this summer. Back over to check on RH Mom since RH Sis was gone all day on a vineyard tour, then back home for a quick bite, gathered bass and amp and headed over to our drummer's studio for LOUD POWER TRIO JAM SESSION. Drummer has been on hiatus caring for his elderly dad for almost a year and a half but passed a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed at what we were able to pull off from the electric set that we haven't played in so long. Had an absolute blast and hit the bed around 1 am.

Sunday, felt slightly hangovery, which is weird because only a few beers Saturday night. Lazy all morning, then grocery run, then home for extra long afternoon hike with the pup down the river. Back home for supper, settled in for Fear The Walking Dead, crashed.

18.99/19 Covids, because scored a perfect fit $200 sport coat off the clearance rack at Kohl's for $33, and LOUD rock and roll. I had forgotten how much I missed doing the LOUD electric thing...especially the power trio format where all 4 minute songs become 12 minute excursions into sonic heaven.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Decent....

Apr 19, 2021, 8:17 AM

Friday - got 2nd covid shot on Thursday and was feeling it by Friday morning. Powered through some meetings at work in the morning and then tapped out around 1pm. Went home and crashed...don't remember much of the rest of the day.

Saturday - got up feeling fine. Had a banquet for our basketball team at Mama Penn's in the morning. Was fun to celebrate with the players again and got a nice trophy signed basketball from the team. May a grocery store run. Lazy in the afternoon. Cooked burgers and chicken on the griddle for dinner. Watched something on netflix with the wife.

Sunday - Drained the pond by the front door. The previous owners put it under a Japanese Maple...which is good for providing shade, but it dumps all it's leaves directly in the pond each fall. I kept it clean the best I could but too many leaves decomposed in pond and it was bright green with algae. Drained the pond and cleaned it best I could and refilled it. I'm going to need to get some aquatic plants there and some better filtration. I need to look into some kind of removable catch net for the falls.

Took son-of to Seneca to review the tornado damage 1 year after. Certain spots still look like a war zone. Hit Mellow Mushroom in Clemson (still no MauldenT).

Installed some wi-fi controlled outlets (wired in receptacles, not plug-in kind)in bonus room and daughter's room. Those little fart nuggets won't get off their x-box/TV/etc when they're told? Fine...I shut the power down. Works pretty well...you can shut on/off manually or program a schedule...all from app on phone. I think I'll put one in where we put our Christmas tree and look and see if they have a GFCI option for outdoor outlet on porch. Also put in new receptacles with USB plugs in kids rooms - I am tied of buying new charger cubes every other week.

Spent the weekend in North Murder Beach

Apr 19, 2021, 8:39 AM

with the wife and youngest. Friday - arrived, got moved in, promptly went to Hamburger Joe’s. Cheeseburger, Joe’s wings, and $1.10 PBRs set the table for a great weekend. Back home and drink margaritas and listen to some tunes with the wife.

Sat - Krispy Kreme, as tradition dictates. Spent nearly 5 hours of a perfect beach day soaking up sun, drinking beer and seltzers, and listening to tunes. Was going to try a new (to us) place on the intracoastal waterway but was a little late getting ready and they said their kitchen closes at 8:30. 8:30????? No problem, head to dive bar Rockefeller’s for an oyster shooter and broiled grouper. Was good. Home for more tunes and margaritas.

Sun - yeah, that part about soaking up sun? We had planned to spend only 1-1/2 - 2 hours on the beach Saturday, but ended up down there for much longer. Ro-ro-ro-ROASTED! I was lucky, I wore a pullover because it was a little cool on the beach but my upper legs are fried. Luckily I did spray the tops of my feet so avoided the dreaded foot sunburn. Wife’s delicate ginger skin was (is) pretty bad in a couple places. Was moving pretty slowly due to sun and alcohol, but got some takeout from Duffy St Seafood Shack and then napped. Got car packed and finally ease back to Aiken. Home at 11 pm, drink a beer and crash.

A solid 9.69/10 beach weekend, in spite of some sunburn.

Quite to very meh.

Apr 19, 2021, 8:40 AM

Friday: meh. Stopped by to see some frens for a minute, home by 10:30. Meh. Wait, I think I did eat a half a gummy and ended up staying up pretty late.

Saturday: rounded up fam to go grab an outside bite at the clubhouse across the street and enjoy some perfect weather, and couldn't figure out why nobody was there. They stopped serving food on Saturdays before the new year, which I find hard to believe that I haven't been there on a Saturday since then. But, whatevs, had a drink, kids had hot dogs out of the warming box. Took kids home and went to another nearby restaurant with the wifey for some grub. Was aight.

Sunday: went to hand off a bottle of likker to some local dood and get paid, and get donuts way too late, after 10, so I said I'd get them IF they had anything decent; pops calls and asks if I want to meet him for brefis, so we do. I let 19She know. This sets her off because apparently, I do whatever I want whenever I want. I walked over to the donut place (right next to brefis place), and of course, they're out of anything we'd have wanted anyway. So, basically, any plans to take the kids to a park and enjoy the weather were dickpunched, for the aforementioned reason of me doing whatever I want whenever I want. Whatevs, again. Lounged around, spent an hour washing both cars, made some killer burgers for dinner, had an EO Concord Grape Sour.

Weekend: whatevs, meh/10, don't care if do again, but will probably do again because...because.

Apr 19, 2021, 9:09 AM

Friday went for a run/bike ride with the family after work.

Saturday up at a decent time for a run/bike ride with family. Then dropped daughter off at a friend's house and took the boys to a birthday party. Luckily wife went too because there were beers and I partook. Hung with some friends who I haven't seen in a while. Kid birthdays are fun when there is booze and a Nerf Gun War. Picked up daughter and hung at that friend's house for a couple hours. Rode go-kart with son driving and he has since asked us 3,000 times if he can get a go-kart. Nah. Home to cook dinner and sleeps.

Sunday up for church then lunch at Millstone afterward. Adult meatball sub with chips is $12, has 3 meatballs. Kid's meatball sub is $4 with 2 meatballs. I will forever change my togo order to get 2 kids' meals for me in the future. Home to cut grass and trimmed up some of the crepe myrtles in the yard. Wife wanted something well-hung, so I hung a TV in the garage. Then she wanted the new curtains hung, so I started that and it went horribly wrong because someone doesn't ever remember what size curtains to get, so they got ones that need hemming because they were on sale. Well, the discount she got on them will most likely be eaten up by the cost of the hemming. Oh well, isn't home stuff fun???? Cooked Tostadas for dinner and zoomed with brothers and mom to catch up on her doctor schedule. Got some sleeps.

spent the weekend drinking, smoking, snorting, cooked a low country boil, blew up some tannerite, swam in a freezing ### cold lake, etc. etc.

So, here we go

Apr 19, 2021, 9:12 AM

Friday: late meeting at work, got home and tried to wind down on some gummies my friend gave me. Finally fell asleep around 11 and had to get up early on Saturday

Saturday: up early and headed to Cootlumbia for scokker. Made my match and headed over to see my daughter. Ate a Publix sub (was at the Lake Murray Publix and looked hard for Tiggity®.) Just missed Tharealdonjuan. Anywho, enjoyed some sublime spring weather and headed back home.

Sunday: up early again and headed into work, messed around for about three hours and back home, watched some scokker (Inter Miami vs. the Galaxy) and messed around some more. Watched some Entourage and hit the bed.

Monday: read that TOTE1 is getting married..........marriage, lol

Wife's grandma died the day after Thanksgiving and we were finally able to have a funeral for her. Only about a half dozen people and a Catholic priest.

Rest of weekend was packing and moving sheeit. At the end of this week we're moving in with parents-in-law for a couple months while we sell our house and find a new one. Yesterday we brought my grills and smoker to their house and I'm experiencing separation anxiety.

Anyhoo, moving and funerals suck. 0/10

It was really good, but kind of insane at times

Apr 19, 2021, 9:54 AM

Friday - grabbed a pizza from the italian market, wife cooked it on top rack and burned the top while the bottom of the crust was basically dough. Took my son to swimming lessons. Ended up going out and got 1/2 crazy, did not do a full send Friday.

Saturday - really lazy morning. took my daughter to gymnastics, then my son and I went to the baseball fields and we threw and hit. High School kids showed up and were really cool with my son, showing him how they hit, how to watch the ball, it was cool to see that good kids exist. Saturday dinner was some meatballs and pasta. Things got really crazy about midnight and my buddy ended up walking home from the bar and puking all over his house like he is 12 years old. I showed no mercy upon him for being a putz.

Sunday - woke up and realized I am not 25 years old anymore. Got some breakfast and coffee in me. Watched a little church as I definitely needed it....son put together puzzles as I watched the race. Wife and daughter went and played at a new playgorund with her little friends. Rest of the day was more baseball and football, walked around town, got ice cream....just chilled.

7/10 - I am exhausted and need sleep.

Apr 19, 2021, 10:02 AM

Went to Brewery 85 in Greenville Saturday afternoon to see Cowboy Kent Rollins, who was only there for 3 hours. He gave a slide presentation of cowboy life, cattle drives, maps of the old trails, and of course, the old chuckwagon cooks and what that life was like. The impression I got was that it was incredibly hard work. I also learned that Kent's personal chuckwagon was originally made by Studebaker, whose original company built wooden wagons. Trivia for the day.

Apr 19, 2021, 10:18 AM

Went there and replaced a lock on the door for mom. Combo Master Lock stopped working. Neighbor had a jigsaw and electric drill I borrowed and make it 10 min work. Bought some groceries for mom in Chapin. Did some work as well. Before that early Sat morning middle son ran his car in the Pinewood Derby. Came in second for his den, which was perfect, because we didn't have to come back for the final run in the afternoon. Got the "best paint job" award. Evidently they were impressed with our 30-second spray painting job.

While at Lowes bought a new latch for our gate, and replaced the old one which had actually broken off. Yes, evidently the wind pressure on the gate is enormous to bend solid metal.

Cooked Saturday night. Watched Church Sunday AM. Then went and fertilized the yard, then watered. Kicking myself though. For years, it was a PITA to spread the fertilizer because the thing was so hard to push. Attacked the spreader wheels with WD-40 and it was SO MUCH easier to push.

Ended the weekend with some new Bourbon and ribeye steaks.

Oh, oldest son started sniffling Saturday. Sniffles got worse Sunday, and this morning he has a cough, sniffles, sore throat, and a fever. Off to covid test #3 (for him). He's home from school today.

Re: Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Apr 19, 2021, 11:17 AM

Pretty good. Negatives - got up for the neighborhood side garage sale on Saturday only to find we only sold little tiny crap that we threw out there just because. Did not actually sell any of the furniture that we are trying to lose.

Positives - wife and I had a great time all weekend even sitting on the porch waiting for people to come by and not buy stuff. Met a bunch of neighbors who were just walking around browsing. Then put all the furniture on Facebook marketplace and have sold all of it in like a day. Cooked a pork butt all day Sunday and will reheat it for dinner tonight. Used Pecan wood with a tiny bit of applewood thrown in. Really subtle flavor. I think I like it.

Cooked Tuna steaks on the grill Friday with a porcini mushroom risotto and a Ceasar Salad. Was great. Took 2 1/2 year old to the playground and watched her climb the "rock wall" and slide for about an hour. Watched The Upside and enjoyed it. Had a charcuterie tray for dinner Saturday because we ate a whole bunch of wings for lunch. Next weekend will probably go take pictures of the rest of the stuff in storage and see if I can't sell some of that crap too.
