Bottomline!! GOR is too strong, schools accept $10m Gratis!

May 16, 2023, 7:22 PM

Until the rest are totally unforgiving of the monetary restrictions or we live to see 2036 and schools in other Conferences have passed by unsurmountable leaps. ACC as a P5 is a thing of the past.

$10m is a mere bandaid for a year or two as the schools invest in more atty fees until they have their avenues to fight or forfeit for long term health.

If it’s so strong, why would the weaker schools agree to even 1 cent of unequal revenue? If I’m Wake I’m getting every bit of cash I can from this “iron clad” GOR and ESPN contract until 2036 when I’m relegated to the SunBelt.

Clemson and FSU obviously have some leverage to force this.

Who says they are agreeing but rather being out voted? I concur, I am not raising my hand if I am Wake, BC, etc. But why don't Clemson, FSU, Mia, VT, etc just walk away. The GOR is obviously more tightly bound than schools hoped if 7 schools cannot find a loophole and Commish willing to sell $ from one school to another to save the ACC.

The “haves” - Clemson and FSU, joined to a lesser extent by Miami and UNC, are greatly outnumbered by the bottom feeder “have nots” in the ACC. And word is you need 10 votes to change the bylaws to allow this.

Again, Clemson and FSU have some degree of leverage to force this.

Geez. These things don’t happen overnight.

We’re leaving the ACC in the next four years.

Its Power 2 and Group of 8. We are Group of 8.

We could improve to Group of 7 if the Pac12 goes under.

Unequal share revenue. They (the schools that didn’t want to leave) would just sit back and let it play out.

This is nothing but extending the conference by a year or two. It’s buying some time to figure “stuff” out.
