Gamecock fans want to be humiliated and made fun of.

Don't ask me why, but it's in their DNA. I wish I could find it, but one of their professors once wrote an article on it. They need to lose. They need to be punished. They are a masochist fan base.

Case in point. After we went to the NC, my Gamecock coworkers were pretty quiet all season until the Pitt game. Then one came in saying he was thinking of buying a pet panther. Why would he pick such a fight knowing that they had also lost that week to Florida and that they were huge underdogs to us in 2 weeks time?

Because they need the punishment. That's why. My response..."If you're looking to buy a dangerous animal, you might want to check out a gator. I heard they are more ferocious than panthers." Nothing but silence...punishment accepted. But later he consoled with another coot coworker that I had been giving him a hard time! Lol.

Then yesterday, another coot coworker whom I've said nothing to comes up and begs me to slap him in the face. He says..."Go ahead, I know you want to say something about the game". I asked what made him think that when I've never ragged him about their team before. He had no answer, but I know what it is. They need punishment. It's been that way as long as I remember.

I've always tried to be classy, but I've come to realize it just doesn't matter. They will never shut up no matter how wrong or irrelevant they are, no matter how ugly the score, no matter what happens. They Need To Experience The Pain. So give it to them...make them happy. Because no matter what you say or don't say, they will always be the same. May as well enjoy torturing them.
