the beginning. Stand by for the Patriot whining about the PI flag being picked up as if Gronk could have even gotten anywhere near that ball. The official supervisor just said that it was the correct call now the entire NFL broadcasting crew is saying wrong call....here we go with the BS and everyone not being able to handle anything going against Brady and the Pats....the choirboys of the NFL. Suck it Patriots, GO PANTHERS!.

I didn't get into watching the NFL till about 2006

But I adopted the hometown Panthers. I got to see us be good one time, in 2008. Been through a lot of bad seasons. It looks like the good times are coming back.

As for Brady, I can't stand him. I respect him as a player, but I hate his personality. Can't stand him or anything related to the Patriots. I get happy anytime they lose, and the Panthers beating them makes it sweeter!

that explains my love for the Yanks and Knicks. Took me two seasons to wean off of the Giants and become a Panther when I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC and went to about 3 games a year from '98 to '01 and I was hooked from then on out. I'm as passionate a Panther fan as I am a Tiger fan. I know that's not a popular thing with most CFB fanatics but I am what I am. I live and die with Tiger and Panther football. I don't care about the money they make, etc., I love football period, and the NFL is the best in the world at that game.

It was not the correct call. The PI was seen by the official, the flag was thrown, Keuchly was tackling him all the way through.

That was a bonehead interview from that former official. He was dead wrong on that conclusion.

Oh don't get me wrong. I have no love for the Pats or really any NFL team. I just think it was complete garbage call/no call.

If you are going to throw the flag on an obvious PI then you better not eat it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There is absolutely no way Gronk could make that catch

Nov 18, 2013, 11:54 PM [ in reply to Re: man, i was yelling at the TV. Been a Panther fan since ]

and though nobody would believe me as a Panther fan, I would say that no matter what the team involved was. Gronk's momentum was taking him out of the catch range on that ball, interfered with or not. If that ball is thrown 3 yards deeper, it's PI all the way or defensive holding at a minimum. The PI call previously against the Panthers was uncatchable and that one gave them a 1st down.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you may have a point...

if the ball was not intercepted at least 5 ft in front of the Pat guy. No way he could have gotten to that ball even without a hold. The pass was low and right into the panther's hands. IMO, the ref was in process of throwing the flag BEFORE the interception.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No... He was right .... worse case would have been holding .

best case is no call

If the refs feel the ball was intercepted before the receiver would've ever had a chance to get to it, then there can simply be no PI.

He is correct in that statement.

And the refs agreed.

Panthers played a good game, but at the end of the day they benefited from a bad call. Would they have been able to stop them? Who knows? I would had liked to have seen it played out the correct way.

i agree, nobody will mention the PI call two downs earlier

on a completely uncatchable ball that gave them a 1st down and landed 5 yards out of bounds. Gronk's momentum took him out of that play in the end zone and ball was underthrown by 3 yards whether Kuechly was face guarding him, holding him, tackling him, whatever. Brady is a first ballot HOFer and a great QB. Bill is the best coach in the NFL. I'm just glad we drove it down their throats to take the lead and they now have a long flight home.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

wasnt a bad call..

gronk had two defenders between him and the ball.even if luke hadnt touched him.the ball would have still went no where near lukes hands.the ball landed in the panther defenders bread basket 3 yards in front of gronk

Exactly. Even though it appears questionable...

does the only thing that makes it so the fact that Kuechly's arms are draped around the receiver? Because even if he just goes with the receiver, the receiver can't get to the ball.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That ball was totally uncatchable

All gronk could have done in the best case scenario is break up the pass. With Keek between him and the ball I'm not even sure he has the right to the path he would have needed to take. The man is heavy they don't change direction that well.

New England has gotten a ton of calls forever including several in this game (as well as a few missed calls). Kueckly never wrapped his arms around him btw

Tackle him if you want. The PI and the ball entering Lester's hands was pretty bang bang anyway.

Panther fan that i am or not, Gronk cannot get back to that underthrown ball, period. Momentum was taking him to the end line and ball was only about 3 yards into the endzone. If that ball is thrown deeper i'd be bitching at Kuechly through the TV screen for obvious PI. If that's a catchable ball there is nothing I could say except sitting here hoping they stone them from the 1 yard line for the untimed down they would deserve. I hate that it ended with any issues but I cannot swallow that we got away with one when he couldn't have caught that ball even if Kuechly wasn't there at all. The ball would have been picked or it would have hit the ground short.

Re: The Panthers are for real ,baby( long answer).
First off,I am neither a Patriot,or a Panther fan,but I work with three brothers( one was at the game) who are die- hard Patriots, and they will argue that their team got screwed.
Secondly, and this is just my opinion.I only saw the re-play(had to go to bed) so from what I saw on ESPN,there were three possible calls:
1)An uncatchable pass( therefore a no-call)
2)Pass interference
3)Holding.
If the Panthers had been called for either holding ,or pass intereference,I think they would have gotten one more play from the 1 yard line.
I'm not certain so if anyone has answer ,please share it with us.
All I do know, and this is just my opinion,is that if the Panthers do go to the Super Bowl they had better hope it's not against Brady/Belichek,and the Patriots.
They don't forget games like this one.

Nov 19, 2013, 9:45 AM [ in reply to Re: The Panthers are for real, baby! ]

If they call PI, the ball, by rule, goes to the 1 since it occurs in the endzone.

If they call defensive holding it is a 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down. In this case they were around the 20, so it would be an untimed down from the 15 or so.
