What’s that? The reason you’re a bunch of useless morons is that you can’t be bribed with my money? Wow...Congress is even more pathetic than I thought.

Earmarks typically only fund design for roadway projects.

Roadway design is usually around 10% of the overall project cost. Purchasing the new right of way and funding the construction cost will typically require 90% of the total project cost.

pointless. Was to begin with anyway. Take all the earmarks for a given year. Then take 1 day of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Food Stamps. Which is bigger?

All of Congress loves the pork.

Dems spend more and are at least honest with their frivolous spending.
Pubs spend a lot and pretend they aren't.
Both sides like pork. How people on this board can continue to think one party behaves and the other doesn't is beyond me. Such naivety is exactly what both parties want.

if the republicans had either the house or the senate?
Biden bribed georgia voters when he promised $2000 cash immediately.
I agree, Republicans spend way more than I want them to, but it is still less the the tax and spend party.

But are you trying to argue they haven't introduced other high priced bills?
So what are you arguing? The Pubs are okay because they do it less?
I posit they're both bad about it. The only difference is that at least the Dems are honest about their frivolous spending.

Did anyone actually read the article ?
I am not in favor of pork barrel spending either, but does anyone think that earmarks might be the price we have to pay to get a more functional Congress ? Is it possible that it might be a reasonable price for that ?
Lots of people here have lamented the use of EOs. Well, a functioning Congress is one of the best remedies for that.

I would be for it, especially if it helps get the fringes of both parties in line and build bipartisan cooperation. Having said that, I’m not hopeful anything would help at this point. Both sides have lost their #### minds.

have to allow our congressional leadership to use our tax dollars as bribe money to other representatives, or they simply can't be controlled" is the least bit respectable.
These people have asked for, and received, the honor of being chosen to govern the greatest country in the world. To expect a small amount of high-mindedness doesn't seem like too much.

Swarley, I certainly agree with the honor of representing your country.
But there IOS the need to get re-elected - and Americans love it when there Congressman brings home some bacon.
This is why Congress has a 17% approval rating but a 95% re-election rate for incumbent. We hate Congress for the very thing for which we love our Congressman.
