I tend to be pretty old-minded for a younger guy, but the "roar" is really not that big of a deal. It's just a fun and harmless little cheer. I'm not a "woo-hoo" guy either, but I'm not gonna get too worked up about other people doing it. It's just a way some people like to add to the cheer.

I knew they were trying to start a paw thing … I haven’t heard it or seen it in awhile. I know the university use to teach new students traditions. Either memo isn’t strong or these are ones who are trying to make a difference and start something because they think they can.
