Not even 50 and just figured out today that this angry red slash across my rib cage that looks like a knife fight scar is GDMF shingles.
Can’t wait to see what my 50’s have in store. Cataracts? Hip replacement?

Have yet to get mad because I’ve heard horror stories about side effects from the vaccine, being down for one or two days. Wife had shingles about a year ago and that should’ve pushed me over that edge though
Yeah, getting old sucks. At the beach and played wiffleball with my boys, when I say boys, they are all 21 and over. Came back and had to pour an extra finger in my rum and Coke because of my lower back hurting from running around the beach all day

I got shingles when I was 28.

It was not enjoyable.
My mother got them a few years later in her 70's, and is 86 now and still deals with the aftermath.
For me, the blisters were the easy part, they came and went in about 3 weeks. It was teh next 6-9 months of feeling like your shirt is 60 grit sandpaper rubbing on your skin. When I got covid a few months ago, I had that EXACT same feeling on my stomach and that scared me. Even now, occasionally I'll get a twinge of it returning for now apparent reason. I guess its just a friendly reminder to let me know that it never goes away.
I wouldn't wish them on anyone. Hope yours clears quickly.
