that said, I moved here during the middle of the 5 bomb so I can take it.
Some thoughts on the next year, I have no inside info.
We're going to see a bunch of transfers. I do believe DJ, EJ, Pace, maybe Spector and some guys deep on the depth chart move on. Just my gut. We'll also see XT return for 6th year with a redshirt, and Mascoll take his Covid year. Putnam has already said he's coming back.
With this, our DL is still stacked, our OL returns 4 starters.
We're going to finally hit the portal at WR. We basically have to. We lack depth and are extremely young. We need a couple of big play guys. I think Dabo realizes he has to do this, even if he doesn't prefer it.
We may at safety and CB as well. Though we have guys like Phillips and Sheridan who can take the Covid year. Yes, they walked as seniors. So did KJ and XT. I still love our freshmen here long term.
Breese, Murphy and Simpson are first rounders and gone, as expected.
Cade and Vizzina battle it out for QB.
Woodall steps right in for Simpson
Freshmen, especially on the DL and WR will be given real opportunity for PT.
No coaching changes will be made. Scream and holler all you want. Streeter recruited both Cade and Vizzina. They are here because he is. They both fit our offense far better than DJ. I personally think Cade was not quite ready physically, or with reads. So the stubborness with DJ.
Goodwin as DC gets the criticism, but Reed and Conn have coached DB's for years. The DB's were burned today. I think they can both coach and have proven that.
Those who say Dabo has lost his fire are nuts. That was a hurting man after the game. He cares. He's also not stupid, and realizes he has to play the game as the rules allow. He will adjust. Portal, scheme on offense, he knows what to do, even if he doesn't prefer it.
All is not lost. QB is as always the key. WR needs playmakers. No one knows that more than Dabo.

Striper I agree with most of what you said and hope you are right but I’m hopeful he brings in Scott to help offense and improve WR recruiting and talent. Would like to see Streeter handle QBs only. You’re right. He recruited Cade and Vizzina.

Y’all need to stop obsessing over getting Scott back. It’s not likely to happen. We are going to have to move forward without him. Just like we don’t have DW4 or TL16 anymore. Get over it and move on.

is going to suddenly figure out how to develop QBs? He may have recruited and signed Cade and DJ, but neither of them has evidently benefited much from anything he’s done for them. DJU is performing a little better this season because HE IS HEALTHY. That’s it. And if Cade isn’t capable of better than what we’re seeing out of DJU, the QB’s coach should be fired, now. NOW!!!! Klubnick is a 5-star QB with the physical tools and the athleticism to be GREAT… and we’re at the end of the season now. Klubnick is not a raw freshman in this system. HE SHOULD BE READY.

Cade is about the size Deshsun was as a freshman
Nov 26, 2022, 10:19 PM
|

He was injured twice including blowing out his knee. DJ takes a pounding every game, Cade physically isn't ready for that. He still leaves the pocket to quickly. We're expecting everyone to be Deshaun or TL as freshmen. That's just not reality.
DJ was putrid today. He's had 3 real clunkers this year. He was pulled in two of them when we trailed. Syracuse it worked. ND was Cade's pick in a bad situation he was put into. Today, we led until the last quarter. If we had trailed earlier I think he's pulled.
It didn't work. We lost. But we can't expect everyone to be a superstar the moment they arrive. Those are actually few and far between at all positions

Beware will not be a 1st Rounder. He has done enough this year (sadly, we know why). Doubtful that Simpson will go in the 1st Round. He had a pretty good year, is very athletic, but, he was not Dominant.

Bresee

What have you seen to lead you to brag on this immense talent? I’ve been waiting and I haven’t seen it yet. If you were running an NFL team would YOU offer Bresee top-10 draft money??? I sure wouldn’t. That sounds like a fantasy, honestly.

Haven't seen one mock draft that had him outside the top 15.
You may not personally draft him and that's fine but there is plenty of tape and measurables that make him a high 1st rd pick.
Personally, I was hopeful to see our version of Ndamukong Suh wreak havoc every play he was in this year but sometimes things just don't go how you want and just gotta wish him well if he leaves.

Bresee needs another year, maybe he has been going thru the motions waiting on the draft. Simpson has regressed this year, Murphy is very good on the 2 plays out of 5 that he chooses to play. Conn and Reed are awful coaches on the back end, our corners have been getting beat deep for the last 10 years and Conn has done nothing to improve our safeties - both corners and safeties use very poor technique - all on the coaches. I would argue that they are worse. Wasn't a big fan of Jeff Scott coming back but I think he would make a difference. Streeter is not the guy.

Straight losses to them. You will be fine. For them winning is kind of a momentary thing, for us winning is a lifestyle.

win or lose. Pretty sure Rattler is gone, and that means back to pedestrian QB play. If he does come back, they'll be tough, but I think he's played his way into the NFL with these last two games when they finally cut him loose

I don’t think we will have as many transfers out as you say.

I also don’t think as many people will return for COVID years as you think.
I’ll be shocked if Dabo uses the portal.
I agree about there not being any coaching changes. Dabo is too loyal and too stubborn.
I also don’t think he believes our issues are as big as they are.

He knows we need WR
Nov 26, 2022, 8:31 PM

we have one upperclassmen next year if Spector moves on, and that's Collins.
People move on every year. DJ has never been a fit for our offense. Pace is to good to stay and be 3rd string, as Shipley and Mafah are just better. Some DL buried on the depth chart will move on with the class we have coming in. XT wants to play in the NFL, likely Mascoll as well. They also see how KJ improved his stock. Jones and Phillips, who knows, but they likely aren't next level guys, so do they still want one last go around as players?

I don't believe Spector moving on would hurt us. He had another drop today I believe. He was supposed to be our next Renfrow? But it never transpired.
So, you think DJ will transfer? You don't think he will try the NFL draft? I think he would be a fourth rounder.

Nov 26, 2022, 8:41 PM

but he's not stupid. We have 2 guys returning who have proven they can play here, Antonio and Collins. I think Randall pans out once the knee is 100%. But everyone else will be unproven. He knows he needs guys who can make plays. He went with his guys like Ngata, EJ, thought he'd have Dacari, and it didn't work.
Stubborn to a point is expected with great coaches. But he's not stupid and want to win and prove the doubters wrong, again

They had alot more to work with than Streeter.
Questioned him hiring Chad.
I do think he's been somewhat resistant to change. But he's changes in the past, and that's always the best indicator of future behavior.
I think he realizes the offensive scheme needs looked at, but it's still Jimmy's and Joe's. We lack them at QB and WR. So, he'll get them.

Quality post Striper. I hope you’re right about most of this, esp the part about grabbing some WRs off the portal. I have my doubts on that one but would love to be surprised as it’s a position we flat out have to improve.

This has a significant probability of coming to fruition.
It also means another 2 or 3 loss season with no CFP and more sliding down the slope back to mediocrity.
