Aug 13, 2013, 4:30 PM

Best service for tailgating?

Wouldn't trade it for love or money.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Dish isn't in the same league with Direct. Not sure about in a parking lot but at home, no comparison.

I don't use either at home

My Dish set-up is strictly for tailgating.

Disagree, Dish is much better, at least in the Atlanta area.

Geography is irrelevant when it comes to either service...

If you are referring to signal, it all depends on your dish alignment.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, Direct doesn't have an HD tailgater option***

I use it as well.

Easy as pie and reliable.

I ordered a tailgater!

Found one for $269 on amazon (refurb).

(I had no luck using the old crank up dish on the roof of the motorhome with my VIP211k DISH recv.)

I have had Dish and Directv and I can tell you that Directv is far better concerning customer service in my opinion. I had a terrible experience with Dish. As far programming, for sports I think Directv is the best but just my opinion.

So did I. Dish owes me a ton of money that I will never get. I do all that I can to see than none of my friends use Dish.

directv

Aug 13, 2013, 5:25 PM

the way that i understand it, the dish satellite is lower on the horizon, so rain interferes with the signal more often, a storm can be further away and still zap your signal, atleast that is what happened at my home

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Direct TV is not difficult to setup, even with HD...

Aug 13, 2013, 5:38 PM

we have a tripod holder, and you just put the HD dish on and adjust... takes maybe 10 minutes on a slow day.

Clarification:

Thanks for the info, but let me try to narrow the discussion a bit.

I have cable at home and don't plan on switching to satellite. I am only looking for something to use while tailgating/camping.

I hear that DISH has a pay-as-you-go plan so you only have to pay during football season without any start/stop fees. Does DirecTV has similar?

I like the option of a automatic satellite acquisition system. It's pretty simple to manually point the dish when setting up in the same spot every time. However, a auto button would be helpful at away games and camping in the motorhome.

I really want HD. I think HD is easier with DISH. Is that not the case? Does HD limit which auto systems are compatible with each?

I use the hopper from dish

Just plug my htc one straight in to my TV and walaa. Works great and don't have to carry all that junk around.
