Why would we not move on from the experiment at this point? Weitz has shown he’s no more reliable than Gunn. He’s done anyway after this season. Why not use the freshman and ride that out and either get him over the yips or know for certain must do something else next year? Weitz adds nothing to this team.

His boss told him he would be disappointed if Weitz didn't take advantage of his opportunity and life dream. His boss actually flew down from NY to watch him last wk for FSU game. So he was given a delayed hire date until after season and has his job pending season.

Disagree. Get the ball lined up straight on and he is money in the bank. Not as good kicking from an angle. Coaches fault not to get this done in FL State game. Liam Boyd in spring game looked to be another Potter. Dabo must have thought about it as he is listed as our kicker in the Athlon Football magazine. Must have let him go at last moment. A big mistake by one of tiger coaches. More coaching mistakes this year than I’ve seen from Dabos group ever.

Pretty sure the FSU was straight down the middle almost like an extra point and he missed.

They took a down to line up that kick. Just don’t see that he’s any better than Gunn and has no potential to add value in the years ahead.

By all means, Gunn was ahead of Boyd at the end of Spring and my guess is Boyd just wanted to go somewhere he'd have a shot at starting.
Hindsight is 20/20 but I don't think he was run off unless someone's got a source that outlined what happened.

with 10 yds to spare. Dabo selected Gunn for some reason. Dabo said they were very close. Monday morning QB'ing, maybe Dabo made the wrong pick.

The obvious quick answer........we have a coaching staff who makes some decisions in a moment of emotion that are not very smart and others that border on ego and bull-headed stubborn personalities that go on and on and on and nobody can figure out why. Put Gunn in. Sink or swim. Get tough or get gone to the kick off team forever!

I keep telling y'all the JV team at my school we have 2 girls who can hit from 25 or so. or me I should probably transfer to Daniel then just to get a Scholarship for nothing I'm sure we need back up gaurds/centers/longsnapers

He’s only been back kickin for less than 2 weeks. No kicks have been blocked and he’s made all PATs. Weitz looks closer to being consistent than Gunn and we have games that will be closer than this past Saturday. Hopefully Gunn does get a chance to kick one soon with a game in hand

At this point I would just let Gunn finish it out, there should be no more pressure on him at this point. They should tell him the job is his regardless to clear his mind up. With Houser coming in next year, that'll open the competition back up again. But I would just ride it out with Gunn and hope he catches fire, tho if we would stop having redzone issues and put the ball in the endzone more it wouldn't be an issue at all.

He's got a smooth motion and a pre-snap routine that doesn't make me nervous. I think he'll be fine to ride out this season and just work in Gunn to get some kicks when possible.
Idk what Gunn was doing but he had this erratic thing he'd do before his kicks where he'd do some leg kick that just came off as "I hope this works".
I think Gunn will be awesome once he gets out of this mental funk. Clearly he's got the leg to be a real weapon when he comes around.
