really. I mean he's beaten Spurrier and Fulmer, but I don't think he's beaten Richt, but has he done nearly as much as they've done as far as championships and quality wins/bowls?
No.

I loved the exchange between TB & SOS....There should be more of that!! But, I doubt Tommy is in Superior's leauge when it comes to thinly veiled put-downs. He may have realized he was over-matched, lol...

“I gave (the media) one Christmas gift, no more,” he said. “That’s out of character for me.”
But it's not out of character for Spurrier to run at the mouth.

Suppose Spurrier goes 7-5 (ahem).
He expects us to believe the AD would think, "Wow, 7-5! He must be worth a half million bucks more than I originally thought!"
Give me a break.
Bowden was exactly right. 8-4 means you're on the hot seat here, and 7-5 gets you a raise at USC. Spurrier's just trying to cloud the issue with his smokescreen.

Don't disagree with either of those points ...
Dec 16, 2006, 9:31 PM

... but do you really think he's half a million bucks better of a coach than he was four months ago? That what he's saying. Paraphrased, "I didn't get $500 K because of wins and losses, I got it because my AD thinks I'm that good a coach." How did he get so much better in such a short time? Just askin'.

One more observation.

[ in reply to You're dead wrong. Spurrier was in every game the ##### ] |

USC fans think when they are "in every game" and come "close to beating some of the top teams in the country" it's cause to give their coach a raise. When we do the same thing (see last season and every game except VT this season), we (and you, interestingly) view it as "nothing."
'Preciate you validating Bowden's point.

The VT game. What's your point? We were in the USC game until the missed FG, in the UMD game (1pt loss), and in the BC game (1pt loss and a kickoff coverage debacle that got righted later in the season).

about Bowden and Spurrier. Uh, ok, I thought this post was about Chancellor? Who wouldnt expect Chancellor to leave? He saw how Reggie got shafted and just figured it would happen to him as well. C.J. Spiller says, "well if you work hard, you get to play." Well, wasnt Merriweather considered the hardest worker at practice? Did he get to play? Chancellor is almost wise for transferring.

Bowden as a Coach
Dec 17, 2006, 9:16 AM
|
|
How many times has the Gamey ##### won against Bowden? Dugh! And what was that God awful score (in Columbia) just a few years ago? Dugh! Sixty something? Dugh!
Seems to me Bowden is a very good coach. If Ford was coaching at Clemson right now, I don't know he could do any better than what TB has done and is doing. Remember Ford did not have to compete (in the conference) against FS,Boston College, GT, and Miami. All he had to do was get by Bobby Ross at Maryland and NC.
Obviously the recruits believe in him and his system. When Spurrier came in he was supposed to wrap up SC recruiting. Has not happened.
Clemson this year is just a few points away from being in a BCS title game. I think we protest too much. Way too much!
O before you say something about the Wofford College thingy -- got my master's at Clemson.
