Quick question. I know my CFB history and have been in love with it all my life. Is Dabo the best person to ever coach? It’s difficult because of how people shouldn’t be compared in this way. Every person brings their own strengths and weaknesses. And I know that guys like Gene Stallings and many more were great people.
That said, there are particular traits in a person that deserve to be measured and compared between people. Like respect for yourself, integrity, work-ethic, care for others.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man be as great of a person as Dabo. Regardless of anything he’s accomplished.
He is a prime example of how good things come when you do things right. And “things right” is how you carry yourself first. Nothing works if Dabo isn’t who he is.
He’s done the greatest job in modern CFB because of how much he relies on the right way. Most programs do things under the carpet and just have bad locker rooms.

I have personal experience with Dabo and how he treats us ex-players as family. he jumped right in without being asked and helped us in a family emergency a few years back. The man walks what he talks. Trust me. He is a treasure!

Best Clemson Coach of all time for sure at the moment.
Best in CFB History though? Taking the orange glasses off, I'd have to say no.
Currently, Dabo is a legend for sure. Two Natty's = respect on the name and places you in the conversation and almost every list of the best CFB coaches of all time. Heck, some of the best coaches in CFB have 1 Natty and some don't even have a Natty to their name (like Bill Snyder of Kansas State).
IMO the best to do it is Nick Saban. 6 Natty's and winning in 3 different eras (2000s, 2010s, and one this decade). If Dabo can notch out 4 more titles between now and the 2030s, he could definitely challenge Saban for best ever. The bias in me says that if we're talking best to do it while "doing things right" and supporting the student athlete, yeah, I'd say he's definitely in the conversation for best ever.
That said, concerning the next bully on the block that is gonna make it tough on Dabo to win another Natty for the foreseeable future is down the road in Athens with Smart running the show now that he's also got 2 Natty's behind him.
Crazy to say but UGA could run the table again and while I don't think Smart is a better coach, he's killing it on the recruiting trail and keeping his team hungry despite the success.
Also, throw in the fact that teams like FSU have leveled up thanks to the transfer portal...Dabo has his work cut out for him to get back to the top.
Overall, I'd love nothing more than for Dabo to win another one just to jab the talking heads and doubters again like when we made the run in the mid-late 2010s

I learned a while ago to call someone or something the best the means distinguishing from next best and next to next best and so on and that’s very hard. But top 5? Definitely!
