Could you imagine being an NC St fan or alum???

First off, you get a degree from a "fallback" school that is about the 5th or 6th desired school in your own state. Nobody takes you seriously.
But hey sports!! You think you're kinda good at sports until you just get let down again and again and realize you should probably just stop caring.
And last, your head coach of your football team is Dave Doeren. Does his mom even like him?

My boss in Charlotte was a State fan, and he was a turd, so I always enjoy it when CLEMSON beats the crap outta the Pack. It tastes just a little sweeter to me.

Except our whole school is ranked higher, i.e., USNWR.

Not trying to be argumentative, but most departmental rankings, especially of grad schools, are simply a size factor - how many students, amount of research $, number of PhDs produced, etc. Most rankings of whole universities are undergrad based and factor in admissions, graduation / retention rates and other factors not easily influenced by size. Clemson does better in those, NCSU does better in the former.

know lots of state grads that are great people, many of them seem to always pull for CU when they are playing each other. They have a fine Ag school and turn out many good ag scientists.

Buncha good engineers here in NC from State. Good school and good people as far as I am concerned. And lordy, they have to put up with that "Carolina way" nonsense. I like my wolfie friends.

I have family in Raleigh (one born and raised) and they're very nice people. Also massive Clemson fans and they hate state so no I can't imagine it.

the thing about NC State is that they aren't really great in any sport

At least Wake has tennis and soccer. Every ACC school has at least 1 sport they are really good at(like nationally elite). Except NC State.

It's a very good university, no idea what the OP was going for.
NCSU is just woefully miserable in sports, their academics are the best in the state in many colleges.

But their fanbase is the coots of the ACC. Subject and verb simply cannot agree there.

I'd take an NC State grad over a University of No Classes one any day.

Well they are The top school in the nation for making paper . Most paper mills in the USA are run by NCST grads. Other than that a pretty AVG school.
