Cottonmouths will have a similar pattern as a copperhead. Copperhead has a Hershey kiss pattern, while cottonmouth looks like a tornado with a bullseye, in it or next to it. Plus the big thing is a cottonmouth has the mask of zoro that runs neck/head to eyes. Fat body, slim tail. There color can vary: tan, brown, grey and almost black. Sometimes they dark color is from the surroundings they have been laying in like dried mud...
