Fair enough. As long as they aren't on a bad road I will fully support a man fit. Although I have never had to do that and can't imagine how hard it is to give away a daughter.
If we're anything as close to my wife and her father, they're never truly "given away"

I'm not quite there myself so I've got some time before there will be any giving away. It's likely very, very hard. You'll likely find that their dynamic will change over time. More a mentor, less a go to first pass. It's important that it does gradually develop that way.

Girls are awesome. Boys do their own thing growing up and are wild as hell. Boys become adults and go away. Girls love their dads all the way through and to the end. (except for those young teenage years)
I too wanted a boy and ended up with two girls. I was upset when I found out the first baby was a girl. I was convinced I'd have a boy. Now I wouldn't have it any other way. I also raised a step son from age 12 or so.
Keep an open mind...

That day for me was nothing compared to the day we dropped our daughter off at William and Mary. The long drive home was a very quite one for both me and my wife.

I was in exactly that place. I felt like I was gonna die when I dropped my oldest daughter off at college. It lasted for weeks. It was not as severe with the 2nd and 3rd children.
That first daughter graduates on Friday and is now engaged. It’s all very strange…..cuz I remember the day she born as if it happened 15 minutes ago.
Watching them grow up is simultaneously wonderful and heart wrenching. Having them not grow up must be devastating beyond words.
