How a conservative pro-business, free market war veteran lost to McMaster tonight? Has Trump's non-conservative, fringe rhetoric taken hold of Republicans in our state that badly?

There's a difference. I am absolutely 100% not surprised in the least. Would have been shocked if the other dude won. Just a head count in the reception yesterday before the rally could have told me that. I know his staff too. Would be very surprised to see Henry lose.

it probably didn't hurt. I think it had more to do with the fact that McMastuh has the political "machine" in place. Ironically, given Trump's endorsement, McMastuh is the very epitome of "the swamp" in SC, and it worked in his favor here at the local level.

I still don't understand how SC went from having Democratic Senator Fritz Hollings from 1966 till 2005, 39 years...to being a Trump State.

and Carol Campbell a few times back in the day, and they were both good, well-intentioned men. The country could use some more statesmen like that.
It's too bad about Caroll's untimely demise....I think he really was positioned and would have transitioned well to the national stage.
