My biggest concern is that Porter built and left a great program, kind of like the Oregon coach after Chip Kelly left (Helfritch maybe was the name--football) or even OSU with Day after Urban left (rode some great teams for 2 years, now have a bit of a physicality/defense identity crisis--TBD how good he will be). I would prefer McMahon from Murray State probably, outside of the Covid year, he's been consistent and a high performer. But you never know, maybe he is the Mark Few to Dan Monson, you never know (Dabo like hire).
All that said, there are a TON of great options out there and we need one of them.

Yeah like McMahon a lot better too, but let's face it. He is going to be gone to bigger job next season, and if Brad comes back, that kills it.
I think Valentine is likely to be there for few more years so can monitor him longer. If Neff and Clemson was smart they are looking at who would really be interested now throught middle people and agents. If McMahon and Niko Medved at Colorado State were interested or a bigger good coach from a power league, Brad would be gone after this season. But doubt that is happening...

I agree, it's frustrating. I think we have so much potential for the right fit. And for all the people that complain about finances, OP operated in a time where football isn't what it is now, had OP been hired as the coach from 2015 or later (and had the same results), I guarantee we would have paid him as a top tier ACC coach (with the same results). If we get the right guy we will pay him and keep him IMO.

I agree. Brad's payout is cheap too when look at it is paid through installments. Could pay a coach $4 million/ year. maybe more.

His payout and his contract are incredibly university friendly, I will give DRad credit there, BB was struggling and they made a contract that would make him prove himself and not hurt us if he didn't, its up to Neff now to execute the plan on that contract.
