Purple Jerseys

Can anyone tell me why we dont ever wear the purple jerseys or pants anymore? Amd why does everyone hate on them?

I think we should only wear them on rare occasions. Although I do like them, I think they should just be pulled out for certain special games, just like the all orange.

Honestly i think their sexy, but i agree on rare occasions just wish they would wear them more. I think alot of people would agree with me.

The Orange endzone in the ACC championship game was pretty awesome too!!!
Purple endzones?? hmmmm I'd have to see it, but it theory I would say would not look so hot.

not sure now. there definitely seems to be an emphasis to return to old school although purple as an accent is here to stay.

overall purple I only like as a side color for us. At least in football. It's good to try and stay as orange/white as we can but still throwing a little purple in somehow.

The team wore the purple jerseys for the ACC Champ presentation at Little John. I have a feeling we'll see the return of purple this season.
I do kinda agree though...I like purple to be used for a big game, like once or twice a year. I don't want the team to wear them any more than that.

bible said purple is a sign of royalty and now that they are Champions the team has on the purple jerseys. Maybe that was some kind of agreement Dabo had with the team. It's been said players like the purple so Dabo might have had a deal that they can't wear purple until they win the conference or something like that. I guess we will soon find out!

Sir allow me to give you your first thumbs up. I've been thinking about the purple jerseys a lot. A lot of people are supersticious about jerseys and helmets. I'm not that way and think a change in uniforms and helmets Ocassionally would be good for the program and fans. I don't think it has anything to do with the way the team plays. I acutally loved the purple when they played against GT. If I had to pick my favorite Purple combo it would be the Purple jerseys and white pants.

It is probably my third favorite combo behind Orange / White, and all White.
As crazy as it is, I even like the Purple Jersey / Orange Pants combo (maybe b/c the team is undefeated in that look?).
I also like the White Jersey / Purple Pants combo.
I not so crazy about all Purple or Orange Jerseys / Purple Pants though.

I have no problem with the purple pants and the white jerseys.
However, it would suit me if we never wore all purple, purple over orange, or orange over purple again.
My absolute favorite uniform is the combination of white jerseys with orange pants.

Purple should be once a year, but no more. How come I haven't heard anyone say my favorite uniform? Solid Orange baby
Interestingly, my elementary, middle, high schools as well as Clemson for undergrad and masters all have the team colors of purple and orange.

our "purple" was primarily a dark navy blue, as most guys that I knew wouldn't be caught wearing purple. How the attitudes toward colors have changed! While in high school, pink "Gantt" shirts became somewhat popular, so I scraped up the dough to buy one. When my Dad saw it, he asked: "What are you going to do with that?" Before I could respond my Mother roared: "Boys don't wear pink...you take that thing back and get a white one!" That ended (for the time being) my experience with colors. LOL Now, I'm not too wild about the all-purple uniforms, but like the white jerseys with purple pants combo for special games.

Those Jerseys were called the "Sugar Blues" because we wore them against LSU in the Sugar Bowl. Our orange Jerseys didn't have enough contrast with LSU's home whites for black & white TV. Next time we wore them was the 1962 home game against South Carolina.

should always be worn for big TV games. Orange should be burned into the retina of every person watching and should equate to Clemson Football. All white on the road with the orange helmet is acceptable.
Save purple to excite the players for the lesser games so we do NOT play down to the level of the competition.

This isn't a bad idea.
I kinda like saving purple for Ga. Tech though. I guess that game in 2003, and then the all purple night game makes me think good things when Clemson dons purple vs. Ga. Tech.
But...wearing purple against Duke or a lesser team isn't a bad idea to pump the players up. Anything to stop the trend of losing to teams we should beat (NC State, Coots, WF, etc...).

But I'm also of the opinion that they should only be broken out once every 3-4 years. Maybe enough for a player to say he wore them once during his college career.
Purple jerseys also don't look that great with orange pants, in my opinion. They look great with white pants. The all-purple look is also one I like a lot, but think should be reserved for rare occasions.

I hate the white tops purple pants and the purple tops white pants. Too many colors going on. If we are gonna wear purple I prefer all purple. Fav is all orange obviously.
