interesting read, especially about Billy Napier

he is out recruiting us as he is hitting the ground.
"In 6 weeks at Florida, Napier and his staff already have made a significant impact on recruiting – the one area where former coach Dan Mullen struggled mightily.
In those 6 weeks, Napier and his staff have:
— Signed 5-star S Kamari Wilson of IMG Academy, a deep pool of in-state talent the Gators haven’t been able to mine in years.
— Signed 4-star safety Shemar James, a top 100 player.
— Signed 4-star DE Chris McClellan, a top 100 player.
— Got a commitment from 4-star TB Trevor Etienne.
— Closing in on 4-star LB Emar’rion Winston (Oregon commit), and 4-star TE Arlis Boardingham.
Now Napier is on the verge of potentially making his biggest move yet: He’s trying to flip 5-star LB Harold Perkins, a top 5 player who has committed to Texas A&M. Perkins, who is close friends with Wilson, likely will choose between Texas A&M, Florida and LSU.
In 6 weeks, Florida’s recruiting class has jumped from the mid-70s according to the 247Sports composite, to No. 35. By National Signing Day next month, it could be a top-20 class with the Gators among the final choice for a handful of 4-star players."
Wait, I forgot, stars don't matter.

They're fanboys of 1980's alternative and new wave. The joke is on Billy Napier.
The IMG recruits verbally commit, then relax and don't do it, they don't want to come.
Fact. Go Tigers!

I’m absolutely concerned that the way things are going

That Clemson needs to be proactive instead of reactionary.
The SEC shocked the world this past summer by raiding the Big 12 and getting OU and Texas. Don’t be shocked if they decide to make a super conference and raid multiple conferences or really who knows. It pains me to say this but we’re living in a SEC world. They have all the control and it’s really whatever they decide to do or when they decide to do it.

To be honest, I hope we don't go to the SEC

because we have a much easier path to the playoffs in the ACC.
However, we are more of an SEC-type team - in the footprint, football tradition, etc, etc.
If I had a choice to die on a hill with the ACC or move to the SEC, I think the choice is obvious.

the playoffs when playing an acc schedule. EVERYONE know this. Doesn’t always get you respect but it is easier to get conf championships. I’d be happy to just stay where you are if I were you guys. If the playoffs get expanded, conf champions will most like get auto bids. That shouldn’t be the case, but it will.

Very true. The SEC is completely dominated by Alabama. Every other SEC team has a chance to win it maybe once every 15 years (see LSU and UGA). Clemson has fared much better against Bama than either lately so we would obviously be the second best SEC team but the ACC as a whole is slightly weaker and not given the free pass to the CFP that SEC runner ups get.

Doesn't mean we are not elite however....ask Alabama

before getting too excited. The only reason the SEC is more difficult is you might need to play Alabama or UGA....LSU occasionally is decent. Truth is, none of the rest of the SEC really scares me. ]

participants from each conference (Which both the ACC and Big10 believe in) no more teams will be joining the SEC and I could potentially see some leaving if that isn't allowed. The ACC and Big10 hold the cards here and as long as they are united against the SEC that won't change. I don't trust the PAC12 but I don't see the Big12 jumping on board with the SEC any longer after getting raided by them.

I don't think the SEC has all the control. They obviously are entering these talks from a position of strength, with OU & Texas coming on board, and their revenue situation.
The ACC can gum up the works for 4 years. But if we do, I hope we get something for it...whatever that "something" is.

Lost of big talk (link)

They are nervous and are talking big because they know the ACC can hold this up for four years. Then the contract expires and will go up for open bid. Big Ten is hooked to Fox and it will be interesting to see Esecpn sweat knowing they won’t control all the tv . There will be more money to split as the bidding goes higher.

Bluffing like he doesn’t need expanded playoffs. BS- he promised this to OU and Texas. He promised this to the current members when they voted OU and Texas in. There will be pissed off members quickly when they realize they don’t have the potential access they had before. He mentions in another article that the people clamoring for it because of access concerns are the ones voting against it now. The only one that could be in that camp is the PAC-12. PAC 12/B12 and G5 were the one concerned about access. B1G and ACC weren’t concerned about access several years ago. ACC has made it every year except this year and have no one to blame but themselves(CU losing to State and Pitt and Pitt losing to WM)

The ACC, B10 and PAC are the ones being smart here. Why do
Jan 22, 2022, 9:14 PM

you think the ACC commish came out last week and said other things have to be done before playoff expands. Right now, it takes a unanimous vote to expand the playoff...that won't happen!
After the current contract ends in 2026, it will be majority rules on a new contract and playoff expansion. The Alliance would be fools to expand the playoff without restricting the number of teams that can get in from any one conference! I say...no more than 25% of participants from any conference...if it stays at four, no more than one per conference. If it expands to eight, no more than two per conference. If it expands to 12, no more than 3 per conference.
All the non-SEC schools have to do is stick together on this and any other changes in the future. Anyone who really wants what is best for college football interest nationwide, can see this. The SEC is just a bunch of greedy basturds, and must be kept in check, or they will ruin college football!
