Vegas is an absolute craphole too, but the city doesn't mind spending money so their sports teams will have top-tier venues. Allegiant Stadium, arguably one of the top 5 in the NFL, is a perfect example.

Vegas has crap hole areas in it, but the city is far from being one.

I realize that Vegas isn’t for everyone

but its crime and poverty are much lower than what you’ll find in Oakland.
Although Vegas has its bad areas like any larger city, it also has a lot more upscale and safe areas than Oakland.

Oakland has a history of not supporting their teams in recent years.

The billionaire owners should pay for their own stadiums

The A's were looking for a taxpayer-funded handout. They didn't get one in Oakland, so they left for Vegas. That's often the case when teams leave one city for another.

I don't care what excuse they use. Their stadium is a sh!thole, they have the lowest attendance in the league, and there is no hope on the horizon. Leaving is a must.

Sorta related but I am fascinated that Detroit

is able to keep all their teams.
They have every major sport but are now one of the smallest and poorest markets. The city, once almost 1.5 million now only has 600,000 and the average household income is $21000.00.
Yet you never hear any mention of a Detroit team threatening to move.
Greenville has more people in the metro area(not the city) and has a greater avg household income than Detroit yet has zero professional teams.
Charlotte is considered too small of a market for the MLB at 2.7 million people but Detroit can maintain 4 pro sports leagues?

4.4 million people live in the Detroit metro area, and Michigan is the 10th largest state by population.

I lived 35 minutes north of Detroit for several years and I have very little positive to say about SE Michigan.
2 positives that are worth mentioning are Detroit has very nice sports venues. The baseball stadium is amazing and Ford Field is also a nice stadium.
The other positive is Detroit has a very loyal fan base. The Lions are essentially the Gamecocks of the NFL, yet the routinely sell out games!
My 2 cents!

Detroit sports are supported state-wide. I stll don’t get why the Pistons moved back downtown.

The word yesterday via the newspapers was...

...the Vegas deal is hanging by a thread. The A's are a fickle bunch. The best thing that could happen would be for Fisher to sell the team to an owner group willing to go all in on one place or the other. And drop their plans to build a $2 billion stadium/hotels/restaurants/shopping complex funded by taxpayers. A $1 billion stadium will do paid for by the owners and MLB, like other businesses,

Good for them. I love Vegas and will attend a few games! We go once a year and love it!
