As much as I’d love to see Cade play more. Can he still red shirt?

Is it too late to Red shirt Cade? That way he doesn’t lose a year of eligibility and if DJ does come back next year. Cade could still have 3yrs as Clemson QB. 7 games in almost seems wise to redshirt him and save eligibility.

He may get more opportunities in the last 3 games.

No if DJ goes down (heaven forbid) He will still give us a chance at ACCCG and CFP. Cade will also most likely be a high draft pick in year three regardless of his eligibility.

I believe Cade has played in four games, I think if he plays in one more he cannot RS.

He might be able to redshirt, but that's not a decision you have to make in advance. If he doesn't play in any more games this year, we can redshirt him. No reason to "declare" it now.

Hopefully he gets to play - it will mean we are clicking and the experience will be critical down the road. We've got reinforcements coming...it's not like we are going to be in a bad spot in 4 years if Cade isn't still here.

Basically this. And the part about injury in another reply. Best to save him if you need him. No reason to declare it now.

Still don't think it'll happen, though, as yet another reply stated. Not sure he'd transfer, I just don't think it'd matter. DJ is almost definitely gone after this season, and Cade will probably be gone after year 3, as well. Not really accomplishing much with a redshirt.

...heading to campus this January. While there will be no directed pressure for DJ to go, the reality is the QB room is going to be stocked to the brim.

He could, but if we need the full 4 years from him something went wrong. A 5th year would undoubtedly only be used at another school, so why bother.

Might spook Vizzina too…
