Much like Clowney's hit on a defenseless Michigan player, Lamar J out up some eye popping numbers early and made a splash.
Also reminds me of Johnny Manziel.
Christian McCaffrey was probably most deserving last year. It happens. Doesn't mean the media is out to get Clemson any more than they were out to get Stanford.

games to vote intelligently, they just go by Espin highlights & hype! Plus, they don't even consider leaderships skills, results and character.

Henry won because he was the best player on one of the best teams, although Watson & McCaffrey clearly had the best stats. This year, Jackson won strictly on his stats, even though his team didn't accomplish much.

If Watson had gotten half the mileage out of being the best player on one of the best teams this year, like Henry did last year, he would have won in a landslide!

Jackson is one of a handful of choices since Jay Berwanger, Chicago won the first that didn't come from the media darlings of ND, the USC, Ohio St, Mich & (B1G) Texas, Tex AM, Oklahoma, Army and Navy back in the day, Penn St, Alabama & (SEC), FL St, Miami. Louisville, Baylor, SC, BC, OK St, Syracuse are the outliers.

Paul Hornung won in 1956 with 3TDs and 13 int on a 2-8 ND team ahead of Johnny Majors, Tommy McDonald and Jim Brown (5th).
