Bad o-line blocking and DJ having one pass speed - Lazer.

Oline is just horrible blocking for the run. Marginal blocking for the pass. That puts pressure. On DJ who doesn't need it and causes RBs to get nailed at the line. You can't play call your way out of a bad oline. I mean you can help but we're not going to be a top 10 team without better line play. Don't care what plays we call.

However... DJ also lacks touch on passes. That is a problem as well. Honestly I think with the natty offensive line we used to have we'd be a different team. DJ would be more composed. And we could call the plays we want to call. We didn't have some gimmick offense. It was just balanced because it could be. Take what they give you? With a good oline if they shut down the pass we ran. If they shut down the run we passed. But with this line they stuff the run then dare you to pass. And Elliott is bad about folding into what the defense forces. We're also missing Renfrow. Some atypical WR who is reliable who can take advantage of the defenses keying on our big WRs.

Lot of pieces missing but mostly oline.

Elliot is also too rigid in his pkay calling. Prime example was 1st down on the 1 foot line. Snaps the shotgun in the end zone, and our running game then showed. Worst possible time to go shotgun. Elliot response.... We're a shotgun team. We'll fine. But #### not going under center for a 4 inch QB sneak to win is insane. We're lucky that game didn't go into overtime. Horrible play calling there.

Still... Again... Oline. Only way you fix that is recruit well and then coach well and experience. No quick fix.
