The game is about throwing GOOD strikes. Do it and you win. Don’t do it and you don’t win!

Okay, 5-6, that’s even more disappointing.

Signs of improvement and relentlessness competitiveness .

Improvement….
Pitching - throwing strikes
Hitting - competitive at bats with Runners on base and more timely hits
Fielding - consistently field , throw and catch.

Execute baseball fundamentals in what looks to be a challenging season. Keep a positive, edgy attitude.

I might add my observations and suggestions:

1. Choke up when a Tiger is on third, with less than two outs, thus giving our batters a better chance to at least contact the ball, allowing the runner to score, rather than swinging for the fences and striking out or popping up.

2. We must protect the plate better. Have seen far too many strikeouts occur by balls thrown close to or over the plate, with our batters just standing there.

3. If sinking low balls have been previously thrown to batters to strike them out, concentrate on not being fooled by the same pitch, as was seen happen several times yesterday, even to two Tiger batters in a row.

4. The pitching staff must work hard with our pitchers to help them improve the accuracy of their throws. Honestly, I don't recall seeing even high school pitchers throwing so wildly, resulting in excessive hit batters, in the dirt wild pitches and out of control thrown balls.

Think about 2 and 3: you don’t want them to watch strike 3 but then you don’t want them to swing at low pitches. It’s entirely possible those pitches look the same until it’s too late. Sometimes the other folks deserve a little credit if arm motion is the same and the pitch does two different things.

Items 1 and 4 are kind of related in that’s how these guys have been brought up: always swing for the fences analytics blah blah blah and all pitchers nowadays are trying to hit triple digits on the gun (even if they aren’t capable) and worry about control later. Actually a lot like modern golf.

This is my usual reply in terms of why do some many want to jump to the end and place expectations on a season? Why not just try to enjoy the ride instead of focusing solely on the destination? It is clear that we will have growing pains....

just reminiscing about all the tigernetters compliaining

about Jack Leggett not hosting super regionals and how he had lost his edge and ever since we've been sinking in the quick sand. I've got hope that Bakich will find his groove here in the next 2-3 years but always like poking at the fans who think they know everything.

At this point just wish we could taste a regional, anywhere, every 5 years or so.

My expectations are to get through these next 6 months until football is back, then hopefully the offense is clicking like it's supposed to and we will get to watch the Tigers reclaim the throne as kings of college football.

My hopes are that Bakich and his assistance will get a better feel for what they have talent wise and start working their butts off coaching up players that can turn our baseball around, it's past time that it happens. The players that can't or won't take to hard coaching, give them their walking papers and bring another in!!!

No change, as long as the program continues to move away...

Hoping for a winning record. This will be a 2 year project before we start looking better.

I think wins and losses are going to be about equal most of the year. We might even be slightly below 500 when it is all said and done.

IMO I think as the season goes you will see this team improve week to week … we know pitching is usually ahead of hitting at this point so I’m not worried about scoring runs, my thoughts are first off the pitching staff has to get healthy and eventually there will be a pecking order out the pen that we can rely on it may take another week or two. I don’t have expectations per day but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this team picks it up and hosts a regional is all I’m saying. The team usually takes on the attitude of the coaches and I think in game time situations they are trying to figure a lot of new pieces out at once … this team will
Be better than their record shows at this point I def believe that

I think March will be up and down then we start seeing steady improvement in April through May.
That should be the path of a new head coach if you got the right guy and the roster is decent.
There was a lot of hype coming out of off-season but we should have known year 1 would have some bumps.
