and others would join forces and begin a movement to fix college sports and the NIL fiasco. I think that is a great idea, but I also think that the best way to attack it is on behalf of the players. And the best way to do this in my opinion is to use the poor graduation rates and failure of the majority of players who enter the portal to obtain another scholarship at another university. To me, that shows the true exploitation of the student athlete. That may be the best way to stop this insanity.

Unfortunately, the US Courts are what really took the teeth out of any power

the NCAA had to regulate any of this. That is why they ultimately just threw up their hands and said "Have at it, Boys!" A NEW system that would fly in court will have to be arrived at by some means, before any of this will get better, if it ever DOES get better again.

You, of all people, should know how sticky legalese can be. I bet you could tell some stories about property sales that would curl straight hair.

The courts were forced to get involved because the NCAA showed NO leadership on the issue. They just threw their hands up like a frustrated toddler when they couldn’t get their way. If the NCAA had been proactive and set out some rules and regulations we wouldn’t be in this mess.

It is time to take this issue back to court and find a workable solution. All of this got started with one lawsuit by Ed O’Bannon, so it is not insurmountable to correct. It will take a collaborative effort of great minds like the coaches mentioned by Spud and good lawyers. But sports can be saved and made better for all athletes not just the few fortunate athletes that get rich.

Just start with the NFL rules and regulations

concerned with the consequences of breaking the law can use the law to theor advantage...at least it seems that way..

I have only been involved in a court case in my real estate career one time. My client was 100% guilty. The jury said he was not guilty...(I was not involved in the suit, just a witness)...

Saban did say he was going to work to help fix it.

That was straight from the horse's mouth. I know people on here don't like him but I have mad respect for Coach Saban. He's the best ever, and did it the right way.

I agree with your thoughts about Saban but I don’t think he or anyone else can fix it at this point. I hope I’m wrong.

News flash, your friend will have to convince Saban and the others to talk to Congress because that is the only way NIL can be changed. The barn door is open and until the law is changed, NIL will not be changed.

I sure hope somebody can, and is willing to, save it. But if they're going to they better do it quick because I get the feeling there are going to be a lot of people checking out of this trash system soon.

Coach K used to be concerned about graduation.

He went the vast majority of his career with every kid he recruited got a degree. But, in his later hears he followed the Calipari model of riding on the backs of one-and-doners. No way is he gonna be calling for reforms that reward academic success and punish academic apathy.
