A question for how the future will look...

Just saw a headline that read Arch Manning committing to Clemson hinges on if Tony Elliot is not at Clemson (let go, leaves for head coach job, whatever...)
Just for argument sake if Elliot is not at Clemson for whatever reason who would you like to get as offensive coordinator? What style of offense would you like to see at Clemson?
Let's not go down the promotion route where we just bump up an assistant (Streeter)

Garrett Riley and I've never considered anyone else.

I'd love having Brad Scott in the box and Jeff on the field. I just like both of them.

Zach Kittley, offensive coordinator for Western Kentucky

and worked under Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech. #1 passing offense in the country in his first year on the job. His QB already has over 3,000 yards passing and he has a receiver with over 1,000 yards.

This would probably be my second choice but I have Riley as my first because the power raid is more balanced than the true air raid. But good pick.

Kittley coached Patrick Mahomes for three years at Texas Tech which is not a bad addition to the resume.

If your goal is to have a video game quarterback that becomes an NFL great then sure. It's a good move. But Mahomes had one winning record at TTU of 7-6. And keep in mind that Kittley was only the Assistant Quarterbacks coach at TTU as a Grad Assistant. I won't say never, but it will be extremely difficult for any one dimensional teams to ever win a natty. As soon as they face an elite defense that can shut down their one dimension they have zero answers to respond.

in scoring under Kliff Kingsbury.
With our offensive line and running backs next year, I doubt an OC would choose not use them. We should have a sizeable offensive line next year, if you check the scholarship breakdown and the players that we expected to play this year that were injured.
He would have to adapt to the personnel and the head coach's wishes.

That's a good point. My only concern then would be that it requires Dabo to be involved in the offensive scheme to adapt in a run game. And Dabo being involved has historically not been a good thing lol

I would imagine that Dabo's input into play calling is not

as significant as it has been portrayed and is likely no more than most head coach's who are paid so handsomely. Too much on the line to be completely hands off.
Good coordinators adapt to the strengths of their personnel. This guy steps in and things immediately improve in his first two stops.
I would imagine there would be a ton of excitement generated amongst the team and high school recruits at the possibilities.

He must have a QB that can hit receivers and receivers that can catch consistently. That makes having a top passing game a lot easier.

Have to disagree. We went to 6 playoffs in a row without elite OL play and won 2 of them. You just can't do so with our OL with a pocket passer at QB with accuracy issues. It's nearly impossible. Especially with a stagnant and stale offense. With our offensive scheme we made the playoffs with average offensive line play but with generational talent at quarter back and elite talent at the skill positions. With simply and elite dual threat quarter back even with our current scheme we'd win a ton of game but not be nearly as dominant. We need to stick with dual threat play makers at quarter back and go with a more modern scheme whether it be new OC or simply Elliot and staff taking a trip or two to other parts of the country. However, Caldwell needs to retire though. Just my opinions.

the basis for the decision to recruit a pro-style QB instead of a dual threat QB particularly in light of the offense Clemson runs.

Completely agree. That decision and logic to go down a completely different path at quarterback has elluded me.
