A basketball analogy for football question?

The premise is, that if you are in a strong football conference (SEC) you will get better as time goes on--look at USC, it took a long time, but they have obviously gotten better.

My question is, shouldn't we be a great basketball school? We've been in the ACC forever-most years, the country's best basketball conference.

But as we all know, we pretty much suck at basketball, with the exception of a rare good year once in awhile.

But were certianly not great.

Clemson is a football first school, it doesnt matter what conference we are in. Clemson will be a football school until the world explodes

USUCK has never won the SEC in any sport. Also I would not call a few years of reasonable success having arrived. I believe the jury is still out on that but I fully expect a verdict this year and even before the Tigers tear them apart. Go Tigers!

actually we have won the SEC in basketball and baseball.

A lot of that has to do with $$$.

If we invest a little more into basketball, I think we can be a contender in most years.

The ACC has not been the best basketball conference. It has easily been the most top-heavy conference, but top to bottom it has been nothing compared to the Big East or the Big Ten.
