200-250 gallons per hour.

Jul 12, 2018, 11:55 AM

5 engines, @ ~40-45 GPH of fuel at full throttle. He'd have to have 1000-1500 gallon tanks just to get anywhere. At $4/gallon at the marina..that's a $4000-$6000 trip.

Not much of a boat guy... I wish I was, but I have a Q?

Jul 12, 2018, 11:57 AM

Surely you wouldn't run all of those at the same time, right?

I would think that you would run 3 or 4 with a stand-by or backup? Maybe cycle through them every so often to space out the hours?

Educate me, please.

It probably won't plane off on <4 engines running

Those things are heavy. And if you wanted top speed (and that's the only reason I can see to have 5 engines, except to show you have a bigger penor than anyone else), you'd definitely need all 5.

The stupid part is that Seven Marine makes a 627 HP outboard engine that he'd only need 3 of to make almost the same HP.

But how fast can he go?***

Its 45' long and 12' wide

Jul 12, 2018, 12:07 PM

I wouldn't call that "small".

I believe these are 24" screens:

Here's underneath the center console. This looks bigger than the room I had in the last cruise I took:

Assuming you wanted 4 hours of fuel

Jul 12, 2018, 12:12 PM

It better store 1,000 gallons somewhere (over 8,000lbs). And that's a lot of weight to be added to the weight of those engines. Not a small boat. Small for that many engines with enough gas though.

I'm guessing radar would be the lockers then?

Jul 12, 2018, 1:04 PM

may really really need it only a few times, but helps when you do? ;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

there was one like that (minus tuna tower) at big water

Jul 12, 2018, 3:30 PM

marina on the 4th.

looked useless to me. not a lot of fishing room and all those engines made my wallet tingle.

you would have to run all the engines but i guess you have to find the sweet spot in cruise speed and GPH fuel burn.

That might have been the 40' MTI

Jul 12, 2018, 5:03 PM

That MTI only has quad 350's like a poor person though.
