UNC still a 9-seed in ESPN Bracketology

Jan 16, 2014, 3:59 PM

at 10-6 (0-3 ACC). Those three big wins (Michigan State, Louisville and Kentucky) seem like an eternity ago, and only the win at Michigan State still really rings true as an elite win. Their RPI is approx. 55 currently, which is their saving grace I suppose. To me, they look like a fringe candidate right now. Clemson is yet to appear (not surprisingly, with an RPI of 84) but I would imagine could
creep toward that First/Next Four Out area with another win or two.

No doubt, and it's already holding us back.***

Holding us back from what ?

Jan 16, 2014, 5:11 PM

Fans keep referring to Auburn as "a bad loss" as if it were somehow going to keep us from a sure-fire NCAA bid when Auburn has about the same level of talent as Clemson and squeaked out a narrow in while playing at home.

We were picked next to last in the league pre-season for a reason.

Why is the team and the head coach now being penalized and/or criticized for over-achieving?

9-seed is the definition of a fringe candidate.

Jan 16, 2014, 4:08 PM

They'll probably rebound and get to 9-10 ACC wins. Lots of talent.

11s/12s are fringe candidates. Those are the last teams in.***

"fringe candidate" !?!?! A 9 is a solid middle seed. .

Jan 16, 2014, 4:20 PM [ in reply to 9-seed is the definition of a fringe candidate. ]

I'm sure the twenty-eight teams seeded 10 through 16, not to mention the play-in teams, would all love to trade positions with them and move up to a 9 seed.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

In what dictionary?***

The ACC's 15th place team is a 9-seed in the big dance?

Jan 16, 2014, 4:09 PM

The ACC must be strong this year. ;)
