The greatest news regarding TL getting drafted by Jaguars

IF that indeed transpires, I know I know but I no longer put anything past NFL idiot owners, Trevor will get coached by one of the finest coaches in my lifetime with Urban Meyer. When he was calling a game in Clemson after retiring from Florida I recall he once was criticizing one of his staff for losing a recruit to Clemson. Another staff member chimed in to defend the assistant asking Coach Mayer if he had ever been to Clemson? Urban said he now knows exactly all he was up against. Dabo claims even now he could’ve swayed Tebow to go to Clemson but Tommy Bowden said we had our qb for the foreseeable future who obviously didn’t pan out at all but primarily due to a shoulder injury.

Remember all those other great college coaches that turned out to be good NFL coaches.
Is sneaky Pete the ONLY one? But then again, he was NFL that dabbled in the college realm. When was the last one to actually be a college success and THEN transition to the NFL successfully. Ross?

Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer also have national championships and Super Bowls.

Barry won that Super Bowl with Jimmy's players

Couldn't keep winning when he had to draft and sign his own...
Funny how that argument just doesn't translate to the NFL...

I think it did in the case of Switzer though. In fact, most don't like to give Jerry Jones any credit for his 3 Super Bowls as owner since he hasn't been able to come close since the team Jimmy Johnson built aged.

Free agency & the cap have prevented teams like Dallas, SF, & earlier the Steelers from loading rosters & hoarding players. Only 1 org(NE) has been able to have success with regularity while the disruptors of sustained dominance & seeds of parity(free agency & the salary cap) have been in play-

BUT ... Johnson brought in most of those players in the one Herschel trade, and they were aging out and whoring & drugging out by the time Barry arrived on the scene. It was a testament to Switzer he had the ego to not change up the playbook to roll out that one more Super Bowl.
Another factor to consider is Switzer was older than Johnson and owned him in college ball.

There certainly haven't been many, but I do think more college coaches could do it if they stayed and gave it more time. There's many successful NFL coaches that didn't do well at their first jobs. I think most former college coaches end up going back to the college ranks knowing they'll still be a hot hire there instead of sticking it out in the NFL.
Obviously there's more to it than that since being a head coach in college is a lot different from being one in the NFL, but I do think there's a lot to be said about learning on the job, and a lot of these college coaches give it 2-3 years and go right back to college.
For instance, if Dabo were to go to the NFL next year then I'm sure he'd struggle at first. However, you can't convince me that if Dabo gave it 110% and was determined to become a successful coach in the NFL that he wouldn't eventually do it.
If on the other hand a college coach goes to the NFL because the contract is for so much more money then they probably find themselves looking to go back to what they know best.

He tried to get CJ Spiller to leave Clemson and go to Florida. The story I heard is that he called CJ personally to get CJ to leave....

Was that Urban himself telling the story about losing the recruit to Clemson? If so then I at least give him credit for telling the story.
Also, has Dabo really said that about Tebow? I'd be interested in reading or listening to Dabo discussing that if it's out there anywhere. It just doesn't seem like Dabo to talk about guys we didn't get for one reason or another.

Yes, I remember Urban saying that during the broadcast. He said he now understood after being on campus. Very positive. But none of that matters now. He is in the NFL where everything matters.
