Tigers have the longest current winning streak in the ACC

After UVA’s loss last weekend, Brownell’s men have the longest winning streak in the conference: 3 games.
The point is not to celebrate a 3-game winning streak, but to point out that some of you critics have totally subjective criticism. You don’t bother educating yourselves on what goes on in other programs, so when you see something that bothers you, you sometimes play the “good teams don’t....” card.
Good teams don’t...get blown out multiple times in a season. Really? Because UVa just lost by 21, and not long ago got out scored by 22 in a half. UVa is still the class of the league.
Good teams don’t...go 5 minutes without scoring. Umm, if they are in one of those pell mell, no defense games, you’re right, they don’t. They also don’t stop their opponents for 5 minutes at a time. What makes you think a high scoring team is good? Meanwhile, check the play-by-play of any team that scores under 65. Chances are they went 5 minutes—or more—without a FG and had to get FTs to dent the scoreboard. This Tiger team is shooting 76% from the FT line, so if they get fouled, they’re ok. We have won 7 games this year while scoring under 70 points.
Good teams win on the road...yup, you’re right...I figure 4-6 is a good road record in conference. This year we’ve had multiple road games cancelled, so we’re currently 1-4...with 3 of those losses coming at the homes of the teams ahead of us at the time. Our road games at the lower tiered teams are backloaded on the schedule. Meanwhile, you know who else has only 1 road win this season? That school in Tallahassee that some people think is the best team in the ACC right now.
Good teams...are so exciting that they inspire their fans to come to the games. Really? Because many teams are playing in front of 0000 fans this year. Littlejohn has been Sold Out for 9 of 10 home games this year. (Current COVID guidelines limit capacity to about 1875.) So very few “good” programs are outdrawing our Tigers. But if you’re not excited, clearly our team hasn’t been good enough to get you out of your cynical mood, so that must be the Tigers’ fault.
So in some ways we’re not yet where Tigers want to be, but in others we are. And if you refuse to acknowledge that this team is on an upward track...well, when we get there, don’t pretend you were with us all along, and you’re the one missing out on a fun ride.

This year is so hard to judge

as long as we remain afloat and finish out the season, I'm ok with whatever happens...even if its a first round NCAAT loss. I just want these guys to get to the end on their own and not have the virus ruin things for them.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the selection committee looks at these games that are postponed and never played. It’s a certainty that all the teams will not have played the same number of games. Just win baby really means a lot as the season winds down. Tigers have a better chance than they normally have at this point in the season but they can’t have another losing spell like they had earlier.

maddening traits of Brad Brownell coached teams, for me. That is the fact that we will have scoring droughts that take up half, or more than half, of an entire half of a game! It literally seems at times that someone has in fact nailed a lid on the old peach basket, and it is physically impossible for the ball to go in. This trait has persisted for many years, and many different teams, so it cannot be personnel related.

On any given basketball day, 50% of the teams loose . . .
