by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson baseball has received a commitment from 2016 catcher Kyle Wilkie from Cumming, Georgia (Creekview HS) on Wednesday afternoon according to his twitter account.

TigerNet spoke with Wilkie on Wednesday afternoon and he is excited to be a part of the 2016 Clemson recruiting class. "It's fantastic, I love the campus. The facilities can't be beat and the coaching staff is unbelievable."

Wilkie has been recruited by current assistant Bradley Lecroy. "I've been talking to Coach Lecroy because he wanted me to play with them a while ago and they offered me and I felt it was the right decision."

He was named a 2014 and 2015 Underclass Honorable Mention member via Perfect Game and plays for the 18u East Cobb Astros during the summer. His pop rate is 1.75 which is how fast it takes to catch the ball and throw it to second base from behind the plate.

The 2016 catcher recruit is the 7th commitment (2015-2017) for Lee since he has taken over as head coach at Clemson.

Scouting Report from Perfect game - Kyle Wilkie is a 2016 C with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends Creekview HS. Medium athletic build, very good present strength. 7.20 runner, has quick and athletic actions behind the plate, gets rid of the ball very quickly, accurate throws, 1.75 best drills pop time, has all the defensive tools you like to see on a young catcher. Right handed hitter, upright stance with a late load and trigger, barrel is late at times but has some bat speed when timed properly, inside swing path, mid to opposite field contact, has the strength to improve offensively with adjustments and time. Very good student. Named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
