Clemson, SC -

Clemson's bullpen pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, and freshman Addison Johnson collected two hits and two RBIs to lead #6 Clemson to a 7-2 series-clinching victory over Memphis Sunday afternoon in front of 4,786 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Clemson improved to 10-4 on the season, while Memphis fell to 8-5.

Brock Schnabel (1-1) earned his first career win by pitching 1.1 scoreless innings in relief of starter Alan Farina. Schnabel gave up one hit while striking out one. Memphis starter Lance Scoggins (0-1) took the loss, as he allowed four runs in 2.0 innings pitched.

Clemson, who totaled 10 hits, was led by Johnson's 2-for-4 day with two RBIs. Doug Hogan was 2-for-4 as well. Memphis, who had only four singles in the game, was led by Will Petersen's two RBIs.

Clemson jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. With one out, Hogan doubled down the right-field line and stole third. Alex Burg walked and then stole second. Johnson plated Hogan on an RBI groundout. David Bunnell followed with a single up the middle, scoring Burg and putting Clemson ahead 2-0.

Clemson added to its lead in the third inning. Brad Chalk walked to lead off and then stole second. Taylor Harbin walked and Andy D'Alessio reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Marquez Smith flied out to left field, plating Chalk. With two outs, Burg singled to right-center, scoring Harbin and increasing the lead 4-0.

Memphis got on the board in the fifth inning. K.K. Chalmers and Josh Irvin walked and advanced on stolen bases. Alex Fennell struck out swinging for out #2, but Petersen singled to left field, scoring both Chalmers and Irvin to cut the Clemson lead in half 4-2.

D'Alessio and Smith hit back-to-back singles to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Hogan reached on a fielder's choice to the pitcher that retired D'Alessio at third. Burg struck out swinging, but Smith and Hogan advanced on a passed ball on the strikeout. Smith scored on a wild pitch, then Johnson singled up the middle to score Hogan and put Clemson ahead 6-2.

An RBI double to right-center by Harbin gave Clemson a 7-2 lead in the eighth.

Schnabel, Justin Sarratt, D.J. Mitchell, and Daniel Moskos combined for 4.1 scoreless innings of relief for Clemson. Farina made his first career start as a Tiger and pitched 4.2 innings, giving up only two runs and two hits while striking out two.

Clemson returns to action Wednesday at 7:15 PM when it plays host to Georgia Southern.
