Tigers' Diomande in the Rough Ready To Contribute

by -

Andrew Diomande Wide Receiver Christopher Columbus High (Miami, Fla.) 6'2", 190 pounds. Andrew Diomande found himself in the right place at the right time. With Clemson already strong at the wide receiver position and bringing in a handful of talented prospects as well, it seemed that Diomande was destined to sign a letter of intent to play at Auburn University. On National Signing Day, however, Mike McIntosh, a highly recruited receiver from Jacksonville who was getting ready to sign with the Tigers, changed his mind and signed with the University of Florida. Within days, Diomande took advantage of the opportunity and signed with Clemson. The nephew of former Florida State All-American Andre Wadsworth was excited to get the chance to play for the Tigers, and four months later is even more ready to start his college football career.

"I am very excited," Diomande said. "I will be at Clemson in three weeks to attend summer school. I want to get a feel for college life for when everything starts up in August." With McIntosh choosing Florida and a handful of receivers from last year's team having graduated or in the NFL, Diomande, who has qualified academically, could have a chance to make an immediate impact for the Tigers. "He is an athletic receiver who had a nice senior season after transferring,” said Tiger Source Recruiting Editor Mickey Plyler. “He comes from good bloodlines and his high school coaches love his work ethic." Regardless of the playing time he gets, Diomande feels Clemson could have a stong season. "With Charlie Whitehurst back again and a very good offense, I think we will do very well."
