Jay Rome of Valdosta, GA might be the nation’s #1 tight end prospect. He is an extremely athletic tight end with great ball skills and can line up as a wide receiver for mismatches against smaller defensive backs. He is also an exceptional run blocker because of his large frame at 6’6 and 240 pounds.
He made his official visit to Georgia last weekend weekend along with 17 other official visitors. In attendance were also recruits DE Ray Drew, CD Damian Swann, DE Xzavier Dickson, ATH Quan Bray, WR Chris Conley, WR Justin Scott-Wesley and DB Nick Marshall, among others. After the visit to Georgia, his father Stan told several outlets that if nothing changes it will probably be Georgia. Rome has said he hopes to make a decision by the Under Armour All-American Game. He is currently considering Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, and Tennessee.
