Deshaun Watson honored by Georgia House of Representatives

The Georgia House of Representatives honored former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson with a House Resolution last week.

The Resolution was authored by representative Lee Hawkins of Gainesville (GA) who is a
graduate of Gainesville High School.

1 Honoring and commending Deshaun Watson of Gainesville, Georgia; and for other purposes.

2 WHEREAS, Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for the Clemson Tigers football team, has
3 proven to be an upstanding athlete and citizen; and

4 WHEREAS, after graduating high school in 3.5 years, Deshaun enrolled in Clemson
5 University, one of the many major colleges to offer him an athletic scholarship; and

6 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman led the Clemson Tigers to an 18-2 record during
7 his last two years with the team, helped lead his team to two ACC championships and the
8 College Football Playoff national championship, and earned distinction and numerous
9 awards for his outstanding athletic ability and extraordinary resilience; and

10 WHEREAS, his determination and hard work extend off the field as well, as evidenced by
11 his superlative service with Habitat for Humanity, which recognized him in 2016 for helping
12 to provide homes for those in need; and

13 WHEREAS, Deshaun's intelligence, work ethic, and competitive fire have earned him the
14 respect and admiration of his teammates and peers and have given inspiration to many, and
15 it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding athlete be further recognized.

17 the members of this body honor and commend Deshaun Watson for his outstanding
18 accomplishments on and off the football field.

19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
20 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
21 Deshaun Watson
