Superintendent resigns after making racial comment toward Deshaun Watson

by - Assoc. Editor -

Texas school superintendent Lynn Redden has resigned after his controversial comments about Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The school board released the following statement:

"The OISD does not condone negative comments or actions toward any race. The District values every individual and therefore the District will take the appropriate measures to address the situation expeditiously and completely."

On Tuesday, Redden wrote on the Houston Chronicle's Facebook page: "That may have been the most inept quarterback decision I've seen in the NFL. When you need precision decision making you can't count on a black quarterback."

The school board accepted his letter of resignation during a special board meeting on Saturday morning.
