Clemson is no longer a surprise team

And while Clemson’s traditionally tough defense has been a little suspect of late, Auburn also showed everyone last year that it doesn’t always take a great defense to win championships.

Clemson has to be careful on Saturday at Georgia Tech (and Oklahoma’s choke against a 29-point underdog should be a valuable lesson). While the Tigers should be able to move the ball at will against the Yellow Jackets, Georgia Tech is capable of limiting Morris’ desired offensive fury by milking the clock with sustained drives. It’s a game not to be taken lightly.

Dutifully take care of underwhelming Wake Forest and N.C. State and it could all come down to Nov. 26 in Columbia against the team many expected would be the class of South Carolina football this season.

But without Marcus Lattimore and Stephen Garcia the Gamecocks aren’t the same team that invited preseason national title predictions.

As young and talented as Clemson is, perhaps Gamecocks prized freshman Jadeveon Clowney will be wondering if he made the right choice for pursuing championship aspirations.
