Thursday Clemson Practice Update

by -

Clemson, SC-Clemson practice for two-and-a-half hours on the practice fields behind the Jervey Athletic Center on Thursday. Tommy Bowden's Tigers were working diligently on preparation for Texas A&M throughout the day.

"We had a good practice, working on Texas A&M," said Bowden.

"We had the scout team offense and defense running Texas A& M's

plays. Ray Ray McElrathbey imitated Texas A&M quarterback Reggie

McNeal on running plays and Tribble Reese was the scout team quarterback on passing plays."

McNeal had nearly 300 yards of total offense against Clemson last year in the Aggies 27-6 victory in College Station.

Bowden said that he continues to be impressed with his first year freshmen and that seven to 10 could see action this year.

Clemson's head coach also said that red-shirt freshman Dorell Scott had returned to the team. The defensive tackle had missed the last eight days of practice for personal reasons. "We will try to get him ready for Texas A&M, but it will be difficult because he has missed a lot of time. But, we are glad he is back."

Clemson was low in terms of tight ends for practice on Thursday. Bobby Williamson (shoulder) and Cole Downer (stomach virus), Clemson's top two tight ends, were out for the day. Both should be back by the weekend. Donnell Clark, who was running first team defensive tackle before he suffered an ankle injury, was also out of practice. Kelvin Grant continued to miss practice due to a separated shoulder and is doubtful for the Texas A&M game.

The Tigers will hold a dress rehearsal on Friday evening, then hold a practice on Saturday morning.
