Clemson University, an Atlantic Coast Conference school in South Carolina, is basically surrounded by the Southeastern Conference. It shares its state with SEC member South Carolina. It borders the state of Georgia and will open the 2013 season in the SEC against Georgia. SEC member Tennessee is nearly a border state to South Carolina.

When the No. 14 Clemson Tigers (10-2) play No. 8 Louisiana State Tigers (10-2) of the SEC at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Chick-fil-A Bowl (ESPN), it will mark Clemson's third game against an SEC opponent this season. Clemson has lost four of its last six games against SEC teams and has fallen to South Carolina four straight times.
