Spiller talks about his big rushing game

by -

CJ Spiller had 169 rushing yds in the loss to the Jets.

From buffalobills.com:

On what he saw during his touchdown run…

Well, my offensive line did a great job of hitting those guys up and (forming) the seam that I had to keep the front side from the blitz that they were bringing. The receivers and tight ends were doing a great job blocking downfield. We always said it’s going to be one man that we have to beat. I saw 30 (LaRon Landry) and the way he was trying to play it, I just knew I had a chance, got running and broke a couple of tackles and was able to get in the end zone.

On how hard it was to fall behind 21-0…

I mean it’s hard when you fall behind 21-0, but we fell in that position against New England and we were able to climb our way back and win the game but, unfortunately, today we didn’t. We don’t want to be in those positions anymore so we’ll just look at the film and clean up mistakes and get ready for the next opponent.

On stepping up to be the starter with the injury to Fred Jackson…

I think I prepared myself. I had a great offseason. A full, true NFL offseason. It hurts to have our leader go down, especially the leader in our running backs room. We’re always preaching, the next man has to step up. I’m looking forward to it and hopefully get 22 (Fred Jackson) back as soon as possible.

On if he felt confident that he could step in when Jackson got hurt…

I always have confidence. It’s just having opportunities. Like I said, my offensive line did all the work. Today, I pretty much just tried to run fast and make a couple guys miss.
