5-star 2018 defensive end K.J. Henry from Clemmons, N.C. (West Forsyth HS) announced his top group of schools on his Twitter account on Wednesday night and Clemson made the cut.

"First off I would like to thank God for allowing me to excel in the game I love most and allowing me to pursue so many wonderful opportunities," Henry posted. "These are now the top 10 schools I will be talking to about college in the near future."

His top schools were Clemson, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Alabama, Georgia, Louisville, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Penn State, and Charlotte.

TigerNet spoke with Henry recently and discussed the Tigers’ reputation of producing outstanding defensive lineman for the NFL like Vic Beasley, Grady Jarrett, and others.

“It definitely does,” Henry said. “There is a lot of other schools out there that have that reputation as well, but having Coach Swinney on their side, and the great family atmosphere, it definitely doesn’t hurt them to be able to add that as well. Me being a defensive lineman that never hurts at all.”

Henry shared that he has a great relationship with area recruiter Danny Pearman.

“Coach Pearman is something else," Henry said. "I’m not even going to sugarcoat it, that man is crazy,” Henry said. “I love it and he keeps it real with me. He has a good relationship with my Dad, good relationship with me; I kind of had to break his heart. These guys also offered me at tight end, but I told him that I thought I would stay on the defensive side and he said that was fine and that he just wants me to be a part of the program. I really liked hearing that from him. Getting to talk to Coach Pearman every once in a while is awesome.”

As a sophomore, he was named to the MaxPreps second-team All-American team.
