Clemson has offered 2017 shooting guard A.J. Oliver from Central, South Carolina (D.W. Daniel) on Friday.
Oliver has early offers from Clemson, College of Charleston, FIU, South Carolina-Upstate and Wofford. He plays for AAU team Upward Stars Southeast (SC). In 2014, he averaged 21.6 points, five rebounds and 1.2 steals a game. He shot 85% on the free throw line and 36% from behind the arc. From a personal standpoint, I have played quite a few pickup games locally with Oliver. He is a really good three-point shooter and has a quick release on his jumper. He will need to get stronger and better on defense, but he is only a 2017 prospect. His shooting ability could fit well in Brownell's motion offense coming off screens and nailing long jumpers. Oliver is an intelligent, thoughtful kid and his mother is Clemson women's basketball coach Audra Smith.
