Wayne Gallman injury update

Wayne Gallman injury update

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson redshirt junior running back Wayne Gallman was injured during an impressive 18-yard run in the first quarter of the Clemson-North Carolina State game after a vicious hit to the head by defensive back Dravious Wright.

Gallman rarely loses the ball as it was his first fumble of the season. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was one of the first people on the field to check on his star running back.

Gallman was helped off the field by the training staff to the Clemson training tent. If Gallman has a concussion, he will have two weeks to get through concussion protocol before the Florida State game.

We will have more information very shortly on his injury status.

Note - There was no flag for targeting on the play. The NCAA defines targeting as: "No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet."

Update 1: Gallman walked slowly to the locker room with two trainers in the first quarter.

Update 2: Adam Choice has come in the game at running back as his replacement.

Update 3: Swinney said during his ESPN halftime interview "I think he [Gallman] got a concussion."

Update 4: Gallman is out for the rest of the game.

Update 5: Gallman is on the sidelines with orange pants and a orange sweatshirt.

Update 6: Tony Elliott said during postgame interviews: "He's [Gallman] walking around upbeat, and he has a smile on his face."
