Report: Lawson will forgo senior season at Clemson |
Clemson defensive end Shaq Lawson told FOX 26 Sports out of Houston that he not return for his senior season at Clemson and opt for the NFL draft. Lawson is in Houston as a finalist for the Lombardi Award.
“I sat down with my family, sat down with the support staff at Clemson. I enjoyed being at Clemson, but it’s time. I’m ready for the next level," Lawson told FOX 26. "I will always miss Clemson, thank them for everything they’ve done for me. I really enjoyed it." Lawson had 79 tackles and leads the nation in tackles for loss with 22 and has 9.5 quarterback sacks. He had six tackles, including two tackles for loss and a caused fumble in Clemson’s 45-37 win over North Carolina for the ACC Championship. Lawson is a finalist this season for the Nagurski Award, Lombardi Award and Ted Hendricks Award.
