Hopkins skips Texans camp, holding out for new contract |
Former Clemson receiver
DeAndre Hopkins did not report to Texans camp and will hold out for a bigger contract according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Hopkins has two years left on his NFL rookie contract and will make $1 million in base salary in 2016 unless the two sides agree to a new deal. Hopkins can be fined $40,000 for each day missed. Last season, Hopkins pulled in 111 receptions for 1,521 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns from often suspect quarterback play. Update: Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins did not report to training camp. He now will be subject to fines of $40,000 for each day missed. Unhappy with contract, Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins has left camp, holdout underway, HOU has declined to negotiate, via @taniaganguli and me.
