will make his first career start on Thursday when the Redskins face the New York Giants.

Breeland will be in the starting lineup because DeAngelo Hall tore his ACL this past Sunday and will miss the rest of the NFL season.

Redskins' defensive coordinator Jim Haslett talked to the media bout Breeland.

“The day he walked in, he’s a student of the game," Haslett said. "He’s here all night. He stays here ’til 8, 9 o’clock watching tape. He loves football, loves the game. He’s tough. He’s got great skills. Long. He’s got good speed. He’s a lot faster than I gave him credit for coming out."

Haslett went on to talk about Breeland's toughness on the field.

“He’s tough. He’s got a little mean streak to him. He’s got good cover ability, he’s long. He’s the kind of guy you like having on your team. He and David (Amerson), they’ll be two good-looking ones, that’s for sure.”

Breeland was selected by the Redskins with the second pick in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft with pick number 102 overall.

The second team All-ACC selection had 159 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, six interceptions for 142 yards in 37 games (24 starts) in his Clemson career.
